I trim right after cutting off plant. I've tried other methods and this just works best for me. Been loving the trim bin. Getting lots of kief off the trim.

A bright led desk lamp is crucial to a good trim also.
Already mentioned the ARS scissors but those things rule so I'll mention it again. Get two pairs. One can soak in cleaning solution while you use the others.

Also some cheap vinyl gloves from Walgreens work great to keep the sticky on your buds and off your hands.
Then hang to dry till ready for curing process. A great and cheap way to hang dry is get a large cardboard box and run multiple string rows across the top. Then hang the buds from the strings and dry for 4-5 days. When the stems are close to snapping or snap when bent I start curing. Never close the box and always store in a dark cool space with a fan not blowing on them but on in the room for air circ. I love the box method. Very space efficient.
For curing I start in grocery store plastic bags inside paper bags opening twice daily for 15-30 mins to sweat them for a few days. When I open them and they feel dry it's time for the next step. Then I de stem them, fine trim anything I missed and place in jars. Burp jars daily (15-30mins) till desired moisture (up to a week or so or when they feel dry )and then weekly for a month. Then monthly after that.
    Works like a charm.

I know I'm an asshole for not backtracking through this whole thread, but - if I want to go to oil as my new day-to-day, and put the bong to rest for a while, what should I be looking at? cheap pens? something cool?

normal use includes two users nightly; two rips a piece on the bongski is the norm.

I would get that kit I linked above nice ceramic attachments. Can handle the full concentrates spectrum from light oil to solid wax or shatter.

    Second nopost's suggestion.

Ive had about a dozen handheld vapes and different styles for oil. That $48 or whatever shipped SV pen is now a fixture. Globe doesnt break bc its a cylinder, which also is more discreet. The double, non-thread coils put out volume, the battery lasts and lasts. Just a bomber setup, make sure you get gold like us.

My girls recovered after a three day dry out and two agua flushes four days apart. Turned the drip system back on and MC seems to be steady in middle of "moist" range on meter at mid-depth and bottom of pots.

Also dialed down the micro/bloom rates to 3/6mil per gal. and will hold there.

Spread em out, tied em up and and switched to 12/12 tonight. Scheduled harvest on Boxing Day.

Author comments about big companies = pesticides doesn't understand the cannabis ecosystem. Concentrate processors will not buy plant material treated with pesticides. There's no way currently to separate the pesticides from erl, and regulators sort of frown on chemicals like that in the end product.

The issue I see with huge companies entering the market is they follow Monsanto's approach and patent strain genetics, and start buying rights to strains.

Seed patents have been around since 1930 and are are held by individuals, private business, corps, universities (OSU makes $2.5 million off a wheat patent alone)... Many seeds are patented and in public domain. All patents expire..

Crazy thing is that some plants (mostly in nursery) are trademarked and these never expire. I'm thinking this is where weed will go.

[devils advocate] Without patents or trademarks plant breeders have no incentive to put any type of investment into improvement. This severely limits progress.

Us and Willie hoping that big money is not going to invest in a market that will make many rich in the next couple decades is a pipe dream - you will have your Budweiser type product, and hopefully a lot of choices for us by artisans that know what bakers want. But if I ever see "animal cookies, brought to you by Monsanto" - I may snap.

Could the big guys legally invest? The Feds just blocked COs state bank I'd think the legality of it would make banking/lending impossible.

Also kinda strange to be all for pot going mainstream but at the same time want to keep big guys out. Can't have it both ways.

And let's be honest if the big guys wanted in it would've been legal 20 years ago

Just had a chance to read more on this potential patent and trademark issue-> until it becomes legal on the federal level it will be illegal to trademark and patent strains

Bernie Sanders latest idea to remove it from the list of scheduled drugs completely is nothing short of genius - I am sure many have thought about it, but he is the first one I heard talking about it in depth. One day after removing it, almost every hurdle would be removed, esp the money part.

Well if that happens I really don't see any way to stop the big guys from playing.
