If people want to go to My Lyon or wherever this place is, so be it. Biggest winners are the country store which will sell a few more sixers and me because there will be a few less hippies waiting for the single chair.

Pretty much. Knowing a few of the parties involved, I think it's a way to bring dollars in. It's the fastest growing segment of the industry and for better or worse, it seems like the focus is to make VT the BC Mecca.

And you were once a hippy, too Yanni D...

Great shots VTFH! I like that the tree is in the way.
Here is my contribution from last night:

This storm was firing impressively every 5-10 seconds up until a couple minutes before I got to the top of the hill and got the tripod set up . Maybe tonight will yield some more

    ^Ha ha... MCSB?!

Soooooo, does anyone remember or know who was at Ullrfest and had a girlfriend that was a new dentist from Canada? My friend's son just got admitted to Dalhousie U. in Halifax, Nova Scotia and it was because of her suggestion that he applied. My friend would like to thank them, as well as talk about the school.

Any ideas would be appreciated, especially since you're all dentists.

Cool. Isn't that the way it is many times? Rush to shoot something and it moves on before you get the image. I was lucky as the storm cell stalled and was in place for 45 minutes or so. I finally went out when I realized it wasn't raining at my place and the light show from the couch was even better outside.

The issue with BC gear being the fastest growing segment is it will be like many other fringe sports. Lots of hype and new users flowing in, then the reality that it is hard sets in and the gear gets dusty in the garage. These manicured playgrounds are ok for some, but just like the machine built MTB trails, quickly become boring for anyone with a good skill set. And it will spawn the same shit where some self absorbed assholes involved will start calling people out for not helping to maintain the zones. Like MTB trails, is you want to help, fine, if not, who cares. And I am not going to give anyone my hard earned dollars to fund it.

It was definitely sweltering on last nights ride, but I have to keep pushing. Some of my ski partners called me out for being "old" so I am working hard to push them this winter, down 8 pounds so far this summer with a growing list of skimo goals and since I don't count layers of duct tape covering repairs like JS I am lightning the load back to my 90's weight. Haven't even had to cut out the suds to drop pounds, loving the Harpoon Big Squeeze Shandy, give it a try.

#9 in the German Flats crash series presented itself yesterday morning. Yes those are Silver Bullets. Pounders!

biggins, after you return from Switzerland you should roll up this way for a ride or I'll be down Winsor way after the circus leaves town.

The RASTA glade actually skis pretty nicely, far better than anything in the cotton brook drainage. As far as who uses it, I'd say it's too far from the OGE core and of the few that I've met in the area it's been upper valley residents, Randolph people, and Pico skiers, but I've only been through twice.

In regards to the glades, there are trails all through the woods that have been used for hiking, snowshoeing, and x-c for countless years why not add one more user group. The only difference from this glade and say Bolton Is RASTA' s social media blasts and it's free. So,many are OK with donating money and having the state fund Bolton backcountry as a business, but people have problems with a town providing recreation for free.

Lucky you! Good strategy too, saves all that cash not spent on uberlight gear

I've cut back a bit but have lost 15 extra pounds...enough so that I can fit into my La Vie Claire jersey again. It's making a difference on the up so one less beer per week is a small price I hope I can keep it going for and through sliding season.....for the same reasons.

It will be a real struggle to get into my 1980 kit

    EDIT:
RASTA - man, with good points and considered opinions appearing on these pages, I am feeling a bit like Tevye:

Villager: You can't close your eyes to what's happening in the world.
    Tevye: He is right.
Avram: He's right and he's right?
Avram: They can't both be right.
Tevye: You know, you are also right.

Between you two and Buttah, I feel like I'm on Jenny Craig.

But maybe because I think I've found all those pounds you've lost?!

Summer blahs and all. Impressed with you folks. Been trying to loose weight, but the needle is having a hard time moving. Guess I need to give up beer and pizza. I'll need to loose 34 pounds or 20% to get down to where buttahflake is. Realistically hoping for 20 pound loose baggage loss and an 8 pound muscle gain by the end of Fall.

Well put. I see this with climbing as well, especially in the gym scene. It seems like a lot of people go because it's the hip new thing and they're only there to make friends. Nothing wrong with that, but with that kind of attitude it would be scary to see them out at the crag when they never paid enough attention to learn any etiquette, proper techniques, etc.

That being said, I've put on over 5lbs of muscle climbing 4-5 times a week over the last 2 months, in the gym, but it's all I've had time for. Hoping to increase that number to 10 by end of August. Not drinking much also helps. Need to do more cardio but I hate that shit.

Anyone up for an EC Summer Summit Shitshow at Good Luck Mountain in the southern ADK's? Suggesting 8/21-8/23.

4 hours to boston, 4 hours to NYC, 3 hours from Burlington with lots of routes to choose from according to ADK rock and mountain project.

There's also mountain biking nearby and lots of hiking/boating too if people just want to hang out and do some other shit.

And with the way this summer is going, sounds like it'd be a hell of a bikini contest!

    I laughed.

I'm drinking like a phish and it's all good IPA's full of calories. Healed for 6 weeks from the cracked ribs, so I'm a bit doughy myself, but during my ride yesterday I didn't have to drop into my granny gear which is a first since the injury. So hey I'm fucking happy! Think I'll celebrate with a dbl ipa and some headband....after my run today. Jah jah got to keep on movin'

Ha ha... bikini contest and sash. This place is going to...

Speaking of which, does anyone want a working/cleaned Sun Mar compost toilet tank (with two toilets)? : https://www.sun-mar.com/prod_flush_cent2.html

It's worth $2700 new, but I'd be happy to work out a mag discount (case of Sunshine or Heady?) Let me know as I just put it on Craigslist for $500. It's in Vermont, so you'd have to pick it up.

    HEY! I resemble that comment.

Buttah, you gonna be there on Sat? S and I will be for sure. Rode there this morning and there are a few key trail closures. Like everywhere else a little overgrown everywhere, but good fun none-the-less. The air is shite though. My fat ass was ready to puke a couple times. Weight Watchers fah Life YO!

Edit: Re: a summit, I am out until Fall- too much going on. BUT I would be down for something in the Fall? Western MA might make a good meet up spot- lift-served/xc/mapped routes/Anospa pacing/Buttah twisting/Tree House Brewing options being what they are...

All this time I thought I was making good progress on my pecs.... Should have figured, if it moves it's moobs, not pectorial muscles.

Nice to hear you are healed up and out riding around biggins!!

The gym social scene has been going on for longer then you are old, it's nothing new. Petra Cliffs must be pushing 15 years and it wasn't the first gym in the Burlington area. Shit, about 20 years ago I went indoors for the first time because I heard there was a hot chick that bouldered in shorts and no undies in the UVM Boulder hallway. That little hallway has been there for probably 40 years by now and I know from talking to even older old timers that plenty of people passed through like Kitty Calhoun and Bouchard for the social times and festive atmosphere.

My point is that groups like crag VT that protect areas the "core" may or may not go to are good things and outdoor sports need newbies with open wallets so that many areas can remain open and usable. Places like Braintree forest are there because the landowner believed in creating a forest for recreation as opposed to posting their land or subdividing. In the end if people use it great, if a bunch of new skiers get lost and it closes or the fad wanes, the forest will return non the worse for wear but at least the town tried something that wasn't about building a mall to attract people.
