^ My first PNW summit ski trip was on a business trip to Seattle in 1999: August 14, walked maybe something like twenty feet from the visitor center to reach snow!

I'm sure you needed that after finishing your brewing...could you have picked a more uncomfortable day to hang around large pots of boiling wort?

Despite the limited skiing, fun Doarama from last Thursday, mainly for all the stops: transition to skinning; transition to roped travel; hmm, nope, that route doesn't work; hmm, that other route doesn't work either; I think we just skied past our trail runners; ooh, 4G LTE reception for work email at ski > hike transition!

Just in case you're missing the snow and really want to see some great skiing pictures, well, I flew into Santiago for work last night and ... sorry, can't help you:

How are the hiking trails in northern vt holding up?

I'm looking for spots I can go on the 4th that won't be absolute shit shows and have access by 5am. Any suggestions, or know what time the gate in Underhill State Park opens?

Not sure on actual trail conditions. I would assume that there is a fair amount of mud out there. However, if you want to avoid the holiday weekend shit show, try a less travel mountain like Laraway or Belvidere.

Any peak in the Worcester Range, aside from Hunger (most likely busy but not shitshow). If you are hell bent on Mansfield, Laura Cowles trail, Halfway House, and Maple Ridge will probably have the least amount of traffic. Burnt rock Mtn and the Allen's are all lightly traveled.

Pretty much every trail has long deep stretches of mud, much more so than normal for this time of the year. Expect to get your feet dirty.

That is the volcano I skied yesterday.
The steep summit cone was too icy and windy to ski.
But otherwise I think its name of Liama translates into FKNA Awesome Ski Volcano.
Although then again, that would almost all their volcano names mean the same thing - not only does Chile have far more volcanoes than the PNW but they're far better for skiing.

epic weekend in the backyard and rooftops, both.

good on the mayor for moving the fireworks back from the joisey side of things, climbing is going off in the gunks, found the most epic rope swing today, bloobs and horns of plenty were both plentiful in the woods and maybe moving north soon.

    hope everyone got sum.
