Recent rain has really made the greens around here silly saturated.

    To Adams today.
Over 9k cumulative ascent with only 1.1k downhike at the end. SW Chutes ranged from very good to excellent. South Climb from about a thousand vertical below Pikers to past the Crescent Glacier ranged from fair to poor.

How was the wildlife, if you know what I mean? (Are we still making Mount Adams/grey wolf/gun jokes? Or is that officially passe?)

That slightly over 1k downhike at the end of the day to the Cold Springs trailhead should have been a downhike of ... well, actually, at this time of year we shouldn't even be skiing down to Cold Springs, since the road to there should still be covered by snow, and instead we would usually be bypassing Cold Springs entirely for another nearly 1k of skiing to the Morrison Creek trailhead.
But since the snow drought down low is from warm temps not lack of precip, the snowpack up high is still pretty close to normal (with the PNW definition of "normal" being rather abnormal in a good way).

I would have been viciously attacked yesterday morning but for the quick action of my ski partner!
That would be his doberman "puppy" at his house in Portland...

Otherwise, up on the mountain, just the usual slow hikers, with only a very small number of skiers.

Doarama version of my partner's tracklog yesterday on the "real" Mount Adams:

We split up after the return to Lunch Counter (i.e., from the base of the SW Chutes), so that I could continue up along the South Climb to within about 1,000' vertical of the false summit (Piker's Peak) to get in my 9k' cumulative ascent for the day.

Adams was wearing a lenticular hat this morning but otherwise more 9k vert of the same as yesterday.
(Although skipped the summit to instead ski down further on the flats below the SW Chutes - surprisingly quite pleasant all the way down there, although will disappear soon.)

Potential danger tally yesterday afternoon = just passed by rock fall, crevasse, fumarole, and now up above me is the bergschrund plus more rock fall (with numerous large boulders in the middle of a 45-degree snow slope, visually blocked by my embarrassingly ugly helmet, which would do little to block them physically).

    Okay, time to turn around!

Yes, Mount Hood, where people get upset when they have to wait after calling in on a regular cell phone for a rescue by helicopter:
