I'm sure it's crusty, but so am I... Maybe just a recon skin and hike. Need to get out close to home for some exercise.

RC, are you talking access road off 119?

    Perfect, thanks for the info.

Seriously, you live in a bowl in which all the surrounding peaks are in a micro snow zone. take a look around four peaks, 3 of which are accessible from your door without driving depending on which side you live. There are two Nelsaps within 20-40 minutes. Take a sniff around the caves, Hell Hollow, Thousand Steps. Half of the Green Mountain Forest sits above your head, the only thing you need is a bit of imagination and a gazetteer.

Very challenging course with difficult descents.
    Color commentary tomorrow.

Primavera si avvicina , ottiene dopo mentre l'ultima .

Yes, it can, and you are fortunate to have the time and resources to find those places. For us tourists, it is a blessing that the low-hanging fruit looks like this (from yesterday):

"... Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to your body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much: I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those deskbound people with their hearts in a safe deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. Nice. There was quite the gaggle of fit-looking dudes and dudettes in the lodge this morning. Thought I spotted you but there was an intensity of focus that I did not want to interrupt. I watched some of the racers heading up Milk Run and Green Beret, looked tough. I will take the lift, thanks. Gilpin, however, is within reach of mere mortals (see pic above).

Only been here 2 yrs and beeing new to BC thought it would be smarter to go with someone at least the first few times out. I feel like I don;t know wtf I am doing, or maybe my imagination side is just lacking.

Daylight savings wakeup call. 21.4` bob, ULLR provided a less than generous 1/4" of snow overnight. Lightly flurrying right now.
Thanks Lynchy, much fun was had.

EAST COAST ROLL CALL #8 14/15 A NEW HOPE

krp - I'm not available today, but hit me up next weekend and we can try and get together to earn some turns.

Edit: chicks with a sense of humor are hot. I can't not stare between the car seats.

Thanks man. Even a quick tour over to TimberRidge is interesting at this point.

My plans got changed for this weekend, and it just feels wrong to not get out there while the snow is still here. Might go check out the Lye Brook area, GF wants to hike but doesn't understand the difficulties of doing so in 2'+ of snow, she can use my snowshoes and I'll skin in. I know there is at least one open slidepath that should be skiable, remnant of Irene I believe, plus some open pines IIRC.

Damn. You found my stash. I fully admit to being a snob for snow quality and conditions, especially if I'm gonna drive for an hour plus to get there. I also really like seeing new terrain. I'm sure Gilpin was nice. Lots of enticing aspects in the JSF.

Multiglisse- Gilpin is an excellent quick hit, nice job on getting it fresh. Plenty to ski up that way with similar easy access.

Looks like the race was fun Jon. I just emailed you back. Hoping you are staying an extra day up here. Today was tied up for me with house duties.

Skiing has been awesome past couple of days, abundant sun and pow.

Go ski Prospect, it's about as safe of a place as I can imagine.

Was just PMing about this with MNIAW.

How the the prospect XC operation view skinners and downhill traffic? I went to take a look when I had some time off around Xmass, plenty of snow, close to home, just a ton of people crisscrosiing everywhere.

Solo mission Saturday.early morning skin up the Monroe Trail so much untouched woods passed on the way up. I was kind of surprised. The snow was deep but settled and creamy, what a great way to spend the morning. I stopped at the big picture in waitsfield for a burger and had my first Heady Topper gotta say it held up to all of the hype.Click image for larger version.

You have to buy a trail pass to use the down hill trails.

ID:	164954 skied unbelievably deep snow in between some trees today. At a ski area. Untouched. I would say it was a good day.

No photos of all the trees we had to bust through to make it up the trail.

    Line choice was important.
