that's a great pic!
mntlion, I have nothing on cheap places to stay (I usually slum it on guys trips), but my last family trip we stayed at the Taos Inn which is a cool old classic place in town. Then we stayed in the higher rent district at tsv. Getting the hook on tics help to offset that.
Based on where you ski, you really have no need to hit AF. Just spend all your time at tsv. Enjoy a few La Cumbre Elevated IPA's too...damn fine beer!

Yes, yes it is!
Fear, Doubt, Disbelief, you have to let it all go. Free your mind!
thanks guys, I think I"m just stay at the super 8. The snowmasin does either dorms, or multi person rooms, I want inbetween that I think.
Any Taos ticket deals ?
El Pueblo Lodge is cheap and clean.
^ and has fresh, hot chocolate chip cookies at the ready when you get down from the ski valley.
SGL was OK, (good for the money) Its new people owning it, so trying to overhaul the old reputation.
yes, AF is flat.
Yes, Texans are stupid. (but friendly)
Taos skiers REALLY like skiing bumps, Like old school BIG bumps. But LOTS of nice long steeps, and some hikes that seem to stay soft for a while.
town is a bit strange mix of run down/do what you want, and high end tourist art galleries.
Thanks again for all the help and adivce everyone.
Bumping this thread as mrs hoarhey and I with little daughter hoarhey are going to Taos next week
First time in 21 years for me to return.
Is tim's stray dog cantina still up at TSV?

It's getting a little snow today. Hopefully more terrain will be open next week, but right now it is only about 1/3 open.
I was thinking about Taos for my trip in early January, but elected to go to Telluride instead. Which is also really sketchy, but they keep opening terrain every day, so will see.
Tim's is still around.
I haven't been since the Blake opened. We'll be down the 28-1st.

formerly an ambassador for a few others, but the ski industry is... interesting.
Fukt: a very small amount of snow.
Just got a report from the homies. Upper frontside steeps opened up today. New glades + rope drops all over = the stoke. More snow en route. Unfortunately I'm in the flatlands and once I get back my pass is blacked out.
I did the finish work on the Blake all summer and can safely say that it won't be open by the time you get there.
If you need a tune stop by Le Ski Mastery and support your local maggot.

Thank you. Let this thread slowly fade into the ether...

18" yesterday at Taos. That should help open up some terrain!
Service personnel pass has blackout dates as they contrive dropping gates, apparently. Excited for Tuesday, has it been overrun up there?
