Thanks for the Beta, I'm not locked into sungod, but I do have some gear being shipped to them. Any other places you suggest to stay, that are similar prices? Odds are I can stop by sungod, get the boots, and not check in..

mntlion, I have nothing on cheap places to stay (I usually slum it on guys trips), but my last family trip we stayed at the Taos Inn which is a cool old classic place in town. Then we stayed in the higher rent district at tsv. Getting the hook on tics help to offset that.

Based on where you ski, you really have no need to hit AF. Just spend all your time at tsv. Enjoy a few La Cumbre Elevated IPA's too...damn fine beer!

I stayed at the Snowmansion last Friday. It's an awesome place. It's comfortable and has a lot of character.

nice! And Seco is great spot to be for skiing. That little town has had the most change since I lived in taos but it's not a lot of change I guess...which is nice.

thirded. just stayed there for 5 days with 4 teenagers. It was a hoot, the people were cool, clean, a blast from the past and glad they're still there. Highly recommended. One thing I didn't know is that you need to bring your own soap for the shower.

thanks guys, I think I"m just stay at the super 8. The snowmasin does either dorms, or multi person rooms, I want inbetween that I think.

Any Taos ticket deals ?

FWIW you can probably get a multi-person room with a private bath at the Snowmansion for about the same as the super 8 and be a half hour closer. And stay in a way cooler place.

Taos skiers REALLY like skiing bumps, Like old school BIG bumps. But LOTS of nice long steeps, and some hikes that seem to stay soft for a while.
town is a bit strange mix of run down/do what you want, and high end tourist art galleries.

It's getting a little snow today. Hopefully more terrain will be open next week, but right now it is only about 1/3 open.

I was thinking about Taos for my trip in early January, but elected to go to Telluride instead. Which is also really sketchy, but they keep opening terrain every day, so will see.

Just got a report from the homies. Upper frontside steeps opened up today. New glades + rope drops all over = the stoke. More snow en route. Unfortunately I'm in the flatlands and once I get back my pass is blacked out.

I did the finish work on the Blake all summer and can safely say that it won't be open by the time you get there.

Reports are coming in hot. Apparently that 18" came in wet and heavy. Gates dropping all over the hill. Highline open to Juarez, Reforma / Blitz, most lower frontside steeps open as well.
