Couldn't get up North this weekend and was offered a ride an discounted ticket to Gnarchusett last night so why not? Good night and even I happened to be at the top of 10th (with about 50 other people) when they finished grooming and dropped the rope.

I've played this game before so I shoot out to the front of the pack with 2 people in front of me. As I pass one of them on the headwall I hear him yell something, get to the bottom and about 20 seconds later get punched in the back/shoulder, I turn around and its the skier I passed calling me an asshole. Words were spoken and he skied away but never mentioned what I had done? A few people saw the whole thing and commented me me afterwards that the guy had cut them off on that run multiple times.

I've heard of agro pow guys, but agro wachusett groomer skiers (especially probably 45 year old ones) are something else. Maybe he was mad a snowboarder passed him.

A balmy 4.6` bob with a dusting of snow overnight. Get out whilst it's warm.

Another awesome bell 2 bell day with Irish exit and D-Roc. We hit a shitton of inbounds raw woods before lunch while fighting liftlines of up to 3 [yes three!] minutes. Three inches of new snow overnight and the furious overnight SW wind provided around 8-10 inches of new snow to play in. Fun was had!

Irish was on top of his game

    Obligatory Branch skiing

    D-Roc floats one in

    Balsams and Birch = goods

Pretty awesome that there is great skiing from the north to the southern Eastcoast right now!

Always interesting to see the differences 5 miles apart. That wasn't LTC though in the pics, similar and we did ski that next.

well another great weekend at the Bush as VFH pictures will attest.strangely the upper woods were rather void of skiers until lunchtime.Well after skiing 25 of the last 30 days my legs gave out around 1oclock .the last 2 hours of skiing was pain full.for tricks and spins marask you might also try the shreditor 92,my son has a pair and loves them.for woods and pow i am loving my K2 seths 118,they are much quicker to turn then my 108 side stashs

I might have seen you if you were skiing casterock on the side seths. I really like the 189 Obsethed's since they're pretty soft and fun.

But, what should I look for in terms of length? for 5'8" For trees/jumps

At my tonnage, my old189 Seth would fold in half if I hit a drift at full tilt.....but other than that, I thought they were a great ski. But, as I am of a rather more overfed persuasion, I suspect you may not encounter that particular foible as I did.

Oh yeah, they're great. I love them and even at my height/weight they're very manageable and just amazing in chopped up pow or anything. Just looking for something that I can use for tight EC trees, EC backcountry, and jumps + spins off natural features. So a lower swing weight would be great. The 189s are some work to throw around & I feel like they wanna straightline pow more than be worked in the trees.

Any thoughts on what length I should look at? I'm thinking a bit shorter, but afraid of going too short.

Length these days is so model-specific. I would narrow down your interests to a few models, then choose lengths according to each model's strengths and weaknesses. I ski a 195 every day, in the tightest trees, and it is more nimble than many skis that are much shorter. Design plays much more of a role in how good or bad the ski is in tight spots than length. Indeed, in some conditions, sometimes you NEED length even in tight spots. My dad was on his new 170 Viole Chargers this weekend, in the woods (where he has always felt tentative maneuvering quickly enough) and found himself wanting the longer length.

Now that I have posted twice on this, I feel obliged to include the perfunctory "Tech Talk!" admonishment.... :-D

Thanks. Now, for something more specific to East Coast, anyone know if there are any good upcoming demo days in the VT area?

    Massholes represent.

I was there for a few hours yesterday morning, I guess they don't care about skiing of trail anymore? I spent most of my time in the trees right of conifer, and it was pretty damn good.

The Ranger I rode the lift up was pretty worked up about the "people who can't ready the giant yellow and red signs at the top of every chair that says please stay of defined trails or risk loosing your pass". But he also didn't go in after anyone to pull their passes either!! 😁
Why don't you go practice fallin' down? I'll be there in a minute.

11.4` bob calm and clear this AM. Gary reporting an unconfirmed -32` in Waitsfield, so glad not to live in the valley anymore. Last night at 10PM it was -35` with an 80 mph wind on George.

After a late lunch on Sunday some sun arrived and we skied some more untracked areas.

D-Roc and I skied a line to within a minute of my door and I enjoyed a tasty pot roast dinner he had given to me the night before.

Thanks wawa for keeping the sheep out of the woods, I enjoyed a few untracked lines in there at 6 pm. Also saw a couple kids get bitched at that ducked out a bit too late.

I followed two rangers and their buddy through the trees from Mass PIke to the top of Vickery, then down the roped off Vickery lift line.

One of the rangers bit it pretty good in the trees, maybe he should stick to the groomers.

Grizzly Lodge caught on fire. Guess the tourists will have to put their boots on outside.
