Get it before the weekend. Looks like another big "R" event coming in. This is like clockwork, every 2 weeks this winter. I have some buddies working on the rigs on a week on week off shift, they are cursed!

Best turns of the year, charging steep tree lines in perfect snow, ski touring in the Valhallas. Heading back tomorrow. Pity it's all going to turn to crap on Saturday.

Just when our confidence in the stability and lines were finally filling in to proper riding ability. Kootenay pass has been awesome the past two weeks and our crew are pretty much the only ones venturing onto the steep lines. Gonna get after it tomorrow and I'm hoping we can get a few runs in Saturday morning at wh2o before the end.

That being said - weather network is saying plus 12 and sunny in nelson on Tuesday. Beers at the beach anyone?

As of right now it's dumping in Revelstoke but the snow is wet and heavy. I suspect tomorrow morning will be great and I'll spend the rest of the weekend getting a jump on work.

The current weather model actually looks good for kootenay pass and maybe rossland range for tomorrow.

    Here's hoping.

Bahhhhh bittersweet we left revy yesterday. Now looking at the forecast makes me sad. But screw driving home in a rainy snow mess.

Today turned out to be a partly sunny powder day of all things. It was a little heavy and pretty busy, but I went up expecting to get drenched and instead skied pow most of the day. It's snowing outside my window right now...

The sub-peak hike was hilarious today, with so many people way over their head trudging their way up. Especially the guy wearing the blazer who was practically passed out less than a quarter the way up.

We toured up to Apex proper on the 17th.. Got some great turns in on some pretty nice snow. I didn't go up last weekend, but it was raining on Saturday and very warm on Sunday. It will probably be very icy if the temp drops this weekend.

Do you hit Apex very often?

Beach like weather and fair spring skiing (soft groomers and inconsistent off-piste) at Red the last couple of days. The freeze is going to be awful.

Bit of a sluff off Ymir...

    http://backcountryskiingcanada.com/f...aspect-of-ymir

A size 3 Natural avalanche released yesterday (Jan 26) off the SE Aspect of Ymir Peak.

The crowns were approximately 980m wide and ran 1090m long, almost full path. The crown depth is estimated to be 40-100cm deep. The elevation of the crowns is @ 2300m.There was significant warming on solar aspects with afternoon temperatures reaching +5C. The slide was observed from the air @ 1530hrs. There was another size 2 natural on Goat slide around the same time. The warming trend is ending today with a cold front gradually seeping into the area bringing isolated flurries and some sunny periods.

As the temperatures cool, things will tighten up – but as this year's snowpack has proven to be very tricky and unpredictable, I would still treat the terrain with caution. As a wise man once said "when stability is the question, terrain is the answer"

    Play safe out there,

Well I started working nights about a month ago . Only can get out for a half day here an there while I wait for full time day care from the grom to start( hopefully next week) but havnt missed a whole heck of a lot it seems. Have a bit of stoke to post later today. Mr lee lau posted up a photo from 8813 that looked passable for some sunny turns. New y pipe should be in this week then I should be able to get out for some splorin . Any one have beta on sail for me? Looking from some pillow bashing without having to drop into the abys right off the hop.

Figured I'd throw this out here:

If any mag is looking for a ski buddy, I'm skibumming in Revy until mid march and available for touring or hitting to slackcountry at rmr or whatever. I'm a bit of a backcountry jong, but did take AST1 (Ron McAllister at Revelstoke Alpine Adventures, good stuff, all my recommendations), have good gear, strong skier and like to take smart decisions.

As a good bum, I had to sell my car for money, but will gladly chip in for gas if you want to drive to the pass or something. Shoot me a pm.
