I recall seeing some pics from Zoa recently that looked okay, can't find them for the life of me now. Might go investigate tomorrow, will report back if I do.

if anyone is in the Koots for New Years (congratulations, it's snowing), we've got a party going on that will be super fun. This band rocks and Ymir parties are always a good time. Let me know if you need help getting a ticket.

(ps the guy I posted about early was found alive and well after 3 days. remember to tell people where you are going.)

Skied Thar up to 1600m. Good skiing, dense powder on (rarely felt) bulletproof crust. It's early season, lots of rhubarb poking out but we managed a decent run with no sharks hit and no machete required.

Yes man. Very nice. Similar conditions to Corbin's yesterday except your exit sounded a bit better. One shitty day i'm going to cut and flag THE exit

Up at the gorge yesterday, we kicked off a substantial slide during a ski cut descending a ridge. NE aspect at about 1900m. Crown was probably 60 - 80cm deep and at least 40m wide. Ran the full length of the slope. It was great to finally ski some quality powder, but that layer is making me nervous!

That is spooky Dr. Crank, we were only a few hundred meters away on a N aspect. Only had the storm snow moving but we stayed in the trees and kept it mellow. Great snow, best quality I have had all year.

One run, first time doing a pole cam.

Putting out some feelers to see if anyone has any recommendations for lodging/floorspace/ski partners/lift ticket deals/etc. in Golden and/or Revelstoke in February (for my girlfriend and myself). We are going to Fairy Meadows for Feb 7-13th, and looking to spend the month of Feb in your beautiful country. Favors/advice/hookups happily returned in Bozeman, MT or Haines, AK.

    Thanks!
    Drive slow, homie.

Some good friends of mine have just started up a B&B in Revy worth checking out - http://bigshreddybnb.com/

Awesome people that can point you in the right direction no matter what you're looking for and often have deals on lift tickets ect for those staying with them. He's the lead millwright for the resort lift ops and she runs the B&B and also works part-time at the Village Idiot which is a great little restaurant/bar in town. Oh and they both also seriously shred on snow and dirt!

Well that was my slowest drive home from the Pass ever. 7 hours at Albert Canyon waiting for the double fatality to be cleaned up That is the third fatal wreck and the 5th death in a week.

At least it was a good ski day. Had a big whumph on low angled terrain in Dispatchers Bowl but no movement on the lines we skied.

anyone been out with Selkirk Tangiers or the cat operation out of Revelstoke? If it doesn't warm up too much next week I'm hoping to take a trip somewhere during my vacation the 11-17th and while I'm holding out hope for a standby seat in a cat I'm keeping my options open as I have a couple free tickets to Revelstoke anyways. Appreciate any info and hope it stays cold out there!

Conditions update. Red Mountain - groomers are in reasonable shape, off-piste is bushy/rocky/challenging but with good snow quality and still fun. Rossland Range touring is pretty thin down low, and uncharacteristically touchy (Avalanche wise) in the alpine. Kootenay Pass is in great shape, and more stable (from my limited obs) than many assume. Expecting 10-15" by Monday, which should change everything.

yes the snow is coming! have heard it's very touchy as well, a friend who guides at a cat op said that they've been getting a lot of triggered slides.

Did you just say rossland range alpine? Something tells me you weren't on old glory...

Sorry - I'm being bitter. Been out with a hurt back the past week. It should be good to go by tomorrow for some inbounds storm skiing hopefully!!!

Nope, but did see some activity on the SE face from a distance. To clarify, not trying to aggrandize our little range, just using alpine to refer to areas above tree line.

Heard there was an avalanche in Teddy Bear trees - possible injury. Hope everyone made it out ok.
