Was at mildcat last season on a day just like that. Was skiing with a group of very good skiers. They all had fat skis which they loved for the 1st run or two when conditions were smooth, but man were they getting thrown around once things got chunky. Some were bummed they didn't bring the skinny boards. My k2's were brilliant tools for that whole day. By 1:00 things were super bumped up in the trees and trails. No place for fat skis.
Yes, we've already heard this story, multiple times. Sorry you can't handle the fatties (at least skis). ;-)

I'm running a showing of the new Powderwhore flick "Something Else" in Portland Maine.

Wednesday October 22nd 6PM @ One Longfellow Square Portland Maine
Tickets are $12 in advance $15 day of show (last year it sold out and there were none left).

Tickets available in store at Allspeed or online here: http://store.allspeed.com/winterkids...i-film-ticket/

All proceeds from the event go directly to Winterkids - an organization to help get kids on snow and outside during the winter.

There will be a raffle with tons of cool prizes - Skis, stuff from Black Diamond, Marker, Volkl, TONS more.

I think they merit VT-F a promotion to the new ECRC thread starter staus? Especially given Laser's defection to the dark side (Florida!).

Anyone care to second the motion?

rontele- if you are going to be stuck riding weekends and can't choose your pow days, the DPS will get dusty. I pulled out my Voile Chargers about 10-12 days each over the past two years, but I live in a mtn town and can ride when I want.

Consider something no wider than 95 underfoot and damp for sat/sun days.

Last year's Prophet 90's can be found for around $350... seems like the Ronco of east coast skis.

Responded to the PMs. Sorry, I didn't see the notifications up top. Don't tele much anymore, but will likely do it out here if we are skiing hard pack conditions. Really liking Boston thus far, but still and will continue to miss Colorado.

Yet making complete sense with this -

And the rest of the poo flinging in the ECRC.

We just renewed the lease at the Jay rental house, bought the season pass to Jay and am ordering tickets to Wildcat soon. Bring on the snow. Looks like we could have white river of death skiing real soon. The GFS is looking cold.

Are there any passes that are good for 3+ days at areas in VT and/or NH etc. that don't black out the week after christmas? Looking to get some skiing done with my brother when I go home for the holidayz and am looking into options to keep prices down. Would like to hit SB, smuggs, jay but any advice is great as I have not tried to fare the crowds before.

Your good to go! I use to tour on 188 W105's or 190 L120's. This year picking up a pair of the re-designed W112's. Stoked. I do have a pair of 184's for the steep n narrows but use them infrequently. Just mho.

Agreed. Skis you liked elsewhere you'll like here. People ski tighter tree lines here, but if you're doing it right the snow is good, and longer skis float better and therefore pivot as well or better than short skis if you carry a little speed. It's nice to have something narrower and damper for spring and occasional resort skiing. I'm a fan of the Blizzard Bushwacker which handles ice well and bumps well, is light enough for touring. Subtle tip and tail rocker make it very versatile. Comes in a 187 now.
