    Daisy chain that bitch.

Finding cord clamps is a pain in the ass, they're always missing, reels break, so daisy chain it is, 90% of the time.

That is the answer, deal with it.

Some archaeologist in a 100 years is gonna think this shit is SO cute.
I have cords on reels, they don't break unless your an idiot. The one I loaned is just hanging in the garage coiled proper with a loop, easy shit. Daisy chaining is for , do it yourselfers, ditch diggers, "framers" and meth head sheet rockers. Look at people who are in the electrical industry, not one of them fucking "chains" their ext. cords, at least none that I have been around. A true professional would not "chain" his ext. cords. If you think the hanging loop is tough, well that says a lot. That is the answer, deal with that.

    Agreed on the archaeologist !

electrical cords are easy. It's the fucking Christmas lights that kink themselves into Gordian knots every summer that drives me nuts.

No matter how carefully you put them away (OK, maybe the eggnog went bad or something) those little shits are wrangled beyond low dimensional topologies darkest nightmares.

which is why I have this:

    Colorado Blue Spruce Christmas Tree

It was a gift. I admit I was skeptical and only used it the first year because there was much snow on the ground and I didn't feel like battling it so I pulled this out of the garage and threw it up. It really is amazing - all you do is unzip the bag and the branches drop down then you plug it in and viola! Instant tree all lit and pretty! And when you're tired of holiday cheer you simply pull the bag up (it accordions around the base), zip it up and cart it off to the garage until next year. No watering (and spilling the water), no dropped needles, no tangled lights, no tinder dry tree waiting to burn your house down.

Yeah, OK, but I have to admit I hate fake trees even more than tangled lights. I like the ritual of cutting them down, hauling them around and the wonder mess and smell they make.

Plus it's one of the more obvious pre-Xian icons that celebrate the old polytheistry that was once so close to the bone.

I understand. I however am getting old and tired and I take my breaks where I can find them. I only have a small gathering. I suppose if I had a family such as you have I would make more of it too.

I put them on empty cable reels and then onto a reel stand to deploy and stow. Best thing ever. Before that, I just threw the fuckers away and bought new, 'merica.

It was something we had never argued about before, so it was exciting. We live for that shit. Sorry.

There is something to be said for that, especially while the youngins are around to enjoy it.

I don't. I don't want anything to do with Christmas. But I indulge the family. I poach a tree to make them happy.

I work it along the pagan solstice lines. And I like to buy gifts for the near and dear.

My parents have had the same Christmas tree for 15 years or so, whatever type it is has been content to grow in a pot for that time and is now 4 feet tall. It lives in the house year round in the living room and gets decorated for a week or two depending on skiing and work.
In our family Christmas is for skiing, Christmas eve is for presents and Hanukkah is for celebrating with family.

That sounds right. I thought Norwegian spruce, but that's a different tree in the yard.

People who drive by a friend's house (my neighbor) and TOOT THEIR F'ING HORN NO MATTER WHAT TIME OF DAY OR NIGHT!! So G-D annoying. Pick up your cell phone and ring them if you must tell them every time you drive by (which is daily) instead of broadcasting to everyone within earshot - I don't care that you know them. This isn't the densely populated city with a constant cacophony. It's the country where it's quiet and sound carries.

My dad does this, but only during the day. He insists he's just being neighborly.

USFS in Arapahoe/Roosevelt has decided that they wanted to close down "Recreational Sport Shooting" in Clear Creek, Gilpin, and Boulder counties. Recreational sport shooting is the name they've given to shooting that is not hunting or target shooting - more aptly described as "dragging your old appliances out in the woods, shooting at them, and leaving them there". Apparently, this is perceived to be a constitutionally protected activity, so they want to create a few designated sites where people will be allowed to engage in it... One of the proposed sites is about 4,500' from my house, in an area that has been historically closed to shooting because of it's proximity to private property. The site is less than a mile from about a dozen houses in the valley, and is less than a mile from the Central City border (granted, the city border is a good ways away from the actual city). And the site is on the list with two other sites that are not near any private property whatsoever, but are near land managed by other governmental organizations. The word going around is the FS would prefer to just fuck up someone's neighborhood, than have to negotiate with the State Forest or BLM. No idea if that's true or not, but calling around to talk to people, no one wants to claim ownership for any part of the decision making process. The whole thing is fucking annoying.

Shit. Literally. My 12 year old dog cropdusted the bed this morning. Weak hind legs and overexertion trying to get up, she flopped back down on the bed and hosed the doovay (sp?) cover. This day is ruined.

Twig pigs who seem to have gotten lost and found their way on to my secluded, dead end, private road. Not sure what the P.O.S. was looking for on a street that is 100% surrounded by privately owned land.
