Als blog on the abasin website has some good pics of the slide. Looked pretty small, but enough to close the road for a few hours

Was down in Boulder today for a meeting. Wow am I glad I don't live down there in that heat. Rivers are really starting to crank around here
Did you come down 36? Were there hour long delays like the construction signs are saying in Lyons? I'd like to get up to the Park but don't want to sit through huge construction delays. CDOT site has info about last week's schedule, not this week or next...

Don't take 36 - go South Saint Vrain - Highway 7 - its longer but no construction delays.

I was up on Trailridge the other day - sloppy wet snow. Probed into north facing stuff but it was either 12" of slop or had avalanched off. I wouldn't do anything steep at this point, although I'm sure plenty of people are braving it.

Damn, that explains my urge to turn on the AC in my car. I didn't, telling myself, "I don't ever need AC in the high country, it doesn't get that hot."

Anyone been up high lately? Esp RMNP... Jonesing to ski but it's looking like rain and lack of freezes will induce another weekend of rock climbing! Life sure is rough here, I should probably move back east...

Should be many good June turns this year

It poured at Abasin this afternoon. I left at 2:30 and it was nasty till I got to Twin Lakes.
Roll into Aspen and it's gorgeous!
It's clear now and I think we may get a hard freeze tonight.
    Indy will be good tomorrow.

    Weird conditions at Quandary/Cristo
Down low where down to snirt and old base it was nicely frozen but about 13,500 it suddenly became 2' of wet glop. Bailed out on the summit and skied down to the res where it was still firm.

Yeah don't go 36, 7 is the ticket. I'm sure it's a zoo on the weekends tho. Honestly I haven't been able to get up high much in the last few weeks. Got a little one coming in a couple weeks and been enjoying last few weekends with the wife as just us before life changes. I've been watching the snow disappear pretty fast this last week though. Saw some pics of the never summers on the west side of the park and they look awesome. Been jonesing to ride, but just got a lot going right now.

Conditions up high in RMNP were very good today. Gotta get high for the good freezes. Looking across the valleys, almost everything I saw is in good to great shape for June. We went up the NF of longs, which is skiable, with 1 rap. We dropped into the homestretch and down keplingers. Fat coverage and 0 boot or ski tracks on summit or homestretch. A few runnels in lower keplingers but good skiing is easily found on the sides. We then ascended up to the loft and skied Flying Dutchman, which is in super fat cruiser shape. Ice step is present, but only maybe 10' of moderate ice. Certainly could be skied with no rope or down climb if one was confident in the landing snow.

It was 38@6am yesterday in Aspen and we had a real nice hard freeze up high.

It's 54 today and I'm going to ride.

Damn that's a nice day! Did you ski keplingers to the bottom or stop at the Clark's arrow traverse?

Independence was fun this morning. Light snow and wind gave way to sunny warm conditions. No freeze, or a very light one at 12k, but snow was still nice at 10 when we dropped. Backed off a steeper lower line that was waaaaay too soft. Go get it while you can!

Got the one in your first pic on Saturday. Solid freeze kept it in shape - a bit runneled mid-line and lower but you could pick your spots. Turns off the top were great. Looks like a good lineup of clear nights is on the way.

Lots of snow up in the Comanche Peaks area. We had lots of rain & hail Saturday evening and a soft freeze to follow.
The Poudre is absolutely ripping too!

Got a look around RMNP today - west side looked much snowier and the Never Summers looked amazing. Many of the classic lines on the east side looked good too. Click image for larger version.

Just get up early. I saw a bunch of people coming off at 1:30 today and that was way too late.

I took this from Trail Ridge near the Gore Range overlook...west towards the Never Summers. Does anyone know what this craggy peak is?

I think that is Nokhu Craigs. Although not that familiar with the "Gore Range" overlook. You sure about that name? Looks more like the Snowy Range (or might be called Medicine Bow) overlook to me. Was it the first big curve to the west of the Alpine Visitor Center?

This view is just east of the visitor center, almost to the next turn out which I thought was called Gore Range lookout...
