I'm the only one here who scores in triple digits. Until this summer. Then you'll be the only one.

The driving range near my house shut down. Pretty bummed. I now have to drive at least 35 minutes to even hit a golf ball, unless I happen to find $125,000 between the couch cushions to pay for a private membership.

I actually have been thinking about checking out the lease terms to see if I can get it running again at break-even.

Worked for Lee Buck Trevino. 300 to 1000 balls a day while running the show.

Just got back from a few hours at LPGA Frisco' at Lake Merced GC. If you love golf the LPGA is great. You can absolutely get a good view on every shot without a struggle. We didn't buy tickets. Just took the shuttle from parking and walked in. Lydia Ko has a beautiful swing. She loads the shaft and delays release beautifully.

    Stacy Lewis bites her nails..gross.

And then, there is Michelle Wie:

    84*!

*Not including 160 yard island par 3 where I put two in the water and the 9 on I took on a par 5.

Only helps the score submitted for handicap purposes, not the gross eh?

78 at Lake Chabot today. 3 under after 3 with an eagle. Threw a great round away with a couple mental mistakes on the back nine. Never count your chips during the game.

I've become fascinated by that part of the game. Whether you shoot 100+ or <80 the difference between your good round and your bad one is the strokes cost by mental errors. A struggling 44 tonight in the men's league but it was 82 deg. with snow capped mountain views. Gorgeous

Went to the golf shop today to try a couple things. I have a spare shaft for my Titleist 913 D2 and wanted to experiment with a shorter length. I cut 1/2 inch and really like the control but I've lost some head feel with the lighter weight and also picked up some vibration. I ordered a couple head weights to experiment with. Damn expensive!

I also took an Odyssey DART putter and put on a Winn 1.6 putter grip. The biggest one. I really liked it practicing today. If I can sort out driver and putter just a little bit I think I can drop a couple GHIN points.

i forgot my parents got me a cheap range finder for christmas so i think i'll cheat a bit. that's if i don't find out today that i need shoulder surgery. my shoulder doesn't hurt when i'm using my wedges but we'll see what happens.

Re: shorter shafts and swing weight, you can do a few things to remedy this but IME a lightweight grip can bring your sw back to what it was prior to chopping that 1/2" off.

I also have never owned a driver with replaceable head weights so ymmv.

Gone are the days of rattling hot melt and lead tape, I guess.

I may have gone 1/4 inch too much and shaft was already a bit short. Maybe 44 1/4 now. Average length on PGA tour is 44.5. Grip is good tip but I want the interchangeable weights.

Got out for the first time last night for 9... Course was still pretty beat up, but man was it fun. Still stand by my policy of not keeping score... I gave it up about 15 years ago and I have way more fun that way. I just try to play good smart shots. The bad ones still piss me off - it's unaethstetic. Hit a 6 iron to within 2' of the pin from maybe 170 out, but that followed a topped 2 iron off the tee. Net zero... I might love golf more that I love skiing. Can't wait to play again... Of course, it's going to snow now... Maybe next week.

Joined the country club set yesterday. Cloquet country club, Donald Ross front nine and Joel Goldstrand back nine. Very low brow club with a lot of working men and young people as members. Cost is 90% less than the fancy pants club in town. They even let my youngest son in on my membership, hard to beat that. 6649 yard par 71

It's hard to beat a CC membership... I had a golf coach when I was a teenager who was the assistant pro at a nearby cc. Pretty much had the run of the place all summer. Could hit balls, play the practice par 3, swim, etc all day. Usually got 9 in everyday in the afternoon when it got quiet and played 18 with the caddies on Mondays. Did that for 3 years. Great times...

All I care about in private membership from a club is pace of fucking play. that and the design and practice area.

Agreed. Being able to consistently play 18 in 3 hours (or less) would sure be nice.

With 4 bogey golfers, 4 hours is comfortable. <3hrs your breaking 80 and conceding the short putts?
