took me a while to finger her out with that shaft...but I need the X and I don't want a graphite in that club. Definitely a completely different feel than anything I've ever swung before with the weight.

And the "spring affect" of the metal driver that was at first illegal, lets girls out drive Arnie. Buying a game seems somehow cheating. But I ski Pontoons cause I suck at snow. I'm sticking to my '90's Taylor Made Pre-Burner, System 2 Midsize. 9.5 and a medium flex shaft with a low kick point helps me be sneaky long from the blues and long enough from the whites.

I was in an antique store in Attalla, AL on Monday, head back over by the golf clubs that caught my eye, and what's next to them? 4 sleeves of Tour Balata 100's. I took one out and stuck my thumb nail into it - Top Flite XL hard... Oh well.

79 at Oakland Metro today. Three birdies. Short game cost me six shots. I haven't been playing much but swing and game starting to feel natural.

Aeration next week. Going to be a long dry summer of golf in California.

On aerated greens I make sure that the ball isn't in a hole. Might go to a wristy downward "pop" ala Jack to get the ball up and rolling. Works as well as anything. for me.

Played the least fun 9 holes on aerated greens last week. After 5. Only club members to show up was a grand father, father and two kids under 3. They had 2 carts. I'm fine with that. I was under 6 myself with my dad on a course tagging along. I just wanted to whack the ball around because of the greens and go home was the only other option. Long nail biting story shorter, I find my self 5 yds away watching dad ready to swing a 170 yd 6 iron, facing the cart 10' away with the 20 month old kid in it. Kid jumps out toward the dad and he says "stay there". Lines up and hits the ball with the kid in range of a fatal toe shot. Told them they were making me nervous and maybe it was my fault as I knew a guy who killed his 5 year old with a practice swing. They paid more attention but not good enough for me.

Thinking of getting a new or used 3 wood to have a club from this century in the bag. For short par 4 layups and off the deck for a try at the par 5's. What's out there cheap and good that doesn't need a tool kit?

    This is my recommendation...
    http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw...+906+&_sacat=0

Same tech as a brand new one, but not adjustable. F4 is for those that need extra help getting off the deck. I wouldn't get an F4 unless you are a total hack...go F2.

For what you pay for one of these it's like stealing...they're awesome and cheap as fuck.
I'd recommend getting one w/a shaft that's about 10g heavier than your driver shaft.

    Wooley,
You know I have a garage full of 2 to 5 year old clubs that you could have. But your pride in having crappy gear won't allow you to take it.

"Pride" ? Maybe. I think more of a combination of finding myself with a bag full of free gear, including the bag, balls (Prov1's with a Gortons logo), Ping putter, irons custom fitted to me and a driver that launches low, is workable and lets me be sneaky long and long enough. Kind of a TAY thing. That's all colored by having great results in my 20something actions sport with home made and modified low budget gear.

Just put in a chipping area. Uphill, downhill and side hill lies to pop the ball <10 yds. to a target. Drive for show, putt for dough and chip-ins to kick ass.

Custom fitted 3 decades ago ? You could drop 5-10 strokes off your already good game with newer equipment.

Just got back from my old folks couples league. Another in a string of 45's. I could stand to drop 5-10 strokes. Do they make a new club that will prevent hitting it fat? My ball was like a squirrel tonight. Ran and hid under every tree it saw. Beautiful evening with snow capped mountain views.

Come to think of it, due to breakage I am wearing a pair of bifocals that is 3 prescription changes old. Thanks for the tip. I'll try that.

Don't wear bifocals playing golf. Get some golf specific glasses and carry reading glasses in your bag. Callaway makes reading glasses for that purpose.

But my putting is in the zone awesome!! 4 @ +/- 10' canned to save bogie or double last night. I understand the why on every mistake after the fact. My head is moving or I didn't allow for the lie. I had "golf glasses" at one time. Did you know that if you wear glasses that flip your vision upside down that the brain will correct it in a week or two? I remember getting new glasses once and missing the seat of my motorcycle getting on the first day. I did keep a set of "golf" glasses for a while but my brain adjusted for the Bifocals.

@Ski to Be - You have a handicap? I just worked 4 days and Saturday on my week off but the boss promised to ease up and I need to play a some match play with handicaps to regain my focus. Week after next @ Suncadia. In? Anyone?

I would have saved two shots last night if my 190 yd recovery from other fairway, high fade, 5 wood had been 4" higher or 2" left or right and missed the tippy top last branch of a 60' tall Christmas tree 80 yds out. That's Golf.

Shitster…I'm embarrassed to report my round of 91 today but at least it felt good. Finally striking the ball well. Not accurate but good strikes. My consistency is shit on a stick. I almost gave up last week. There should be a Vt/ New England golf summit this year btw…….

    I hit a gofer today.

    The four legged kind.

I was hitting balls on the range, 75 lob wedges. There are clumps of pompous grass next to the target greens. Well it turns out one of the clumps was a groundhog. The funny thing is he didn't seem to mind, i just missed him a couple more times, he just went about his gofer business.

So does this require a Caddy Shack reference, or a Groundhog Day reference?

Ultimately I know Bill Murray is involved in such a moment.

A guy I was playing with hit a duck hook off the tee and hit a duck. Thing was bleeding and stunned. How do you evaluated a duck for TBI?

North Tahoe/Truckee golfers, check out golf for schools card if you haven't already. Great deal.

    Keegan hit a drone-

Something about the wrinkle in your forehead tells me there's a fit about to get thrown
And I never hear a single word you say when you tell me not to have my fun
It's the same old shit that I ain't gonna take off anyone.
and I never had a shortage of people tryin' to warn me about the dangers I pose to myself.

I hit and killed my wife when I ricocheted a drive of a big oak tree.

Totally screwed me. I triple bogeyed that hole.

I heard this one, except it went like this:

A guy was playing golf with his wife and sliced a ball into a farmyard. In between the his ball and the green was a barn. He was all set to just punch it back out into the fairway when his wife said "honey, let's just open the barn doors and you can whack it right on the green." So they opened the doors, he takes a swing and the ball richochets around in the rafters comes out and hits his wife square between the eyes, killing her.

A year later he's playing with a buddy and slices one into the same position. Buddy goes "hey, we can just open the barn doors and you can whack it right on the green!" Guy says, "Are you kidding? Last time I tried that I ended up with a 9!"

Getting out for the first time tomorrow. Hoping to avoid triple digits, but I'm not optimistic. Been a long winter.
