I have an appointment in Vail Monday morning. Would I be better driving up on Sunday in the storm?

Always a crap shoot with I70 and CDOT, but I wouldn't have much faith about the pass especially since most people have switched out to summer tires and the storm coming in heavy and wet.

Elk....the roads are going to be garbage and closed off and on no matter when you head up. Leave early and pack patience. I've got a meeting in Denver at 11 and plan on leaving Monday morning at 5 or 6. With the little bit of snow the pass has received the last 2 days it's been closed 4 different times.
ROLL TIDE ROLL
What a sucky day to have to drive I70. Best of luck to both of us, then. I'll check the conditions tomorrow morning and may go up then. Joan is pushing to stay overnight.
If the appt is important, leave Sunday.

Elk, if you guys could leave Denver by 3 at the latest, then you should be ok I think. I've decided to go down today. SW flow and then a NE flow usually stink for snow in this county but everybody is on board so I guess it's comin! Safe travels

We'll go up later this morning. Hotels are cheap, so getting a room isn't a problem. Supposedly, the change to snow in Denver will be late this afternoon.
Web cams are currently depressingly clear up there.
Yeah, not a whole lot of snow on the way up to the basin this morning. The pass was the only area that had substantial snow falling
Isn't the main part of the storm coming this evening/tonight?
Depends, the forecast seems to have gone back and forth for the past 48 hours
Rain turned to snow about 10 in Denver...wasn't supposed to happen until later this PM. Is the storm early? What's doing at A Basin?
Dumping at a basin, been white out all day
Big fat snow in Vail
ROLL TIDE ROLL
How heavy and wet is it at the Basin? Is it crowded and getting tracked out?
Looks like plenty of closures on I70 already...

70 is closed WB and EB at different spots. I may still try to break for it in a bit or might just leave at 5 or 6 in the morning. Not snowing hard on the valley floor
ROLL TIDE ROLL
Been snowing hard since 9 in Breck. About 6 in town, guessing 10-12 up high. Not blower, not PNWet. Touring this afternoon and will get a better report.

How can I get a tix to the basin for tomorrow for somewhat cheap?
Not done with my drink til I've crunched all the ice
Got stuck at Officer's Gulch for 1/2 hour. Radio reports make it sound a complete distaster. I went back to Frisco and got a room for the night. Hopefully, I can get over Vail Pass tomorrow morning. Every time I had to travel to Vail since October I ran into a snow storm shuting down the hwy. What a mess.
Not snowing hard on this side. You can always go around if you have to.

This shit is straight up slop. Changed over to rain in boulder for a while.
Hope it's stacking up on LL pass and the Basin.
