I played the same course I carded the 70 on (Eagle Vale in Penfield, NY) as a 12 later that year and shot 113. It's called golf.
A few people feel the rain. Most people just get wet.

Played Troon North Pinnacle and Eagle Mountain in AZ last week. Troon was a little tougher and Eagle was more playable, but the greens made up for the fairways funneling into the middle.

Nice to get out and swing a club again.

Christ my long irons suck. Came home today wanting to give it up. Not like bad shots but complete miss hits and fat.

Sweep the long irons with an easy swing, or, get hybrids. I don't even carry a five iron anymore.

I have an Adams Idea Pro Black 26* hybrid with a stiff Grafalloy C-Note Tour graphite shaft (5 iron replacement for me) if anyone wants to try it out. Shaft is not overly stiff; works for driver swing speeds over about 94 mph and up to low 100s depending on tempo. Cost me $38. Make offers, but consider it will cost about $11-12 to ship.

I'm also in the sucking at long irons camp. 3, 4 and 5 hybrids, 4wood, and 50, 54, 60* wedges.

Did score a set of vintage Cobras last year for $75. 1-10 iron, forged tiny blades. Should be fun to mess around with...

I'm in the suck in the long iron camp too but was given one of these a few years back:

    Callaway FT Hybrid 3H, I think mine's 21*.

I call it my magic club. Perfect for normal long iron shots, tight lies, long fairway bunker shots (really helpful here), can hit it high or low. This thing is awesome. Couldn't tell you the last time I carried the 3 or 4 in the bag. Room for one more wedge!

I still call it The Jake.

I carry 19, 21, and 24 degree Titleist 585H hybrids with stock Titleist 4175 R shafts. An R titleist shaft plays plays very firm. Love these clubs. Finest golf clubs I have ever used.

i've got the idea2 hybrid 3 and 4 and once i figured out how to hit them they are two pretty reliable clubs for me.

now i just have to replace the idea2 pitching wedge that i did everything with that i apparently left on a green for some other person not to turn in last year. been hitting a few balls in the front yard the last few days now that it's not so wet that they don't sink into the ground.

    Sounds good, Lydia Ko.

    (I have a 21 and 24 degree 910h, X-flex though)

I know how you feel, I am a 2.7 and popped the cork on this season with a tidy 87. OB on a couple tee balls. 48/39, so left with slight hope.

53/41. All my 4 OB shots were in the first 6 holes.

It was in a money game with friends too. They thought it was hilarious.

In my defense I had at least 5 putts come up 2 inches short that were going dead center. Greens were furry as fuck and bumpy... Impossible to score

I still bag a 21* 585h with X100 shaft. I cut it down to just over stock 3i length to maintain same 3i distance. I'll never get rid of it... Amazing ball flight.

Love the LPGA for that reason! I prefer it to typical PGA event. At my age I'm more Lydia than Michelle for sure. I used to be long....Lama long.

I don't load the shaft very much so R works for me. I tried the 910H but I like the thinner profile of the 585.

The modern golf ball just doesn't have a high enough spin rate to hit 3-iron or less. I miss balata golf balls, except into the wind. The stung 2-iron that goes above 100 yds then starts rising is a thing of the past.

But, that rocket like linear trajectory of the modern ball off impact is great. Playing a 7400 yard course with the old balata golf ball would be miserable.

If the ground was hard and fast, it wouldn't be to bad. I get to play the some senior stuff this fall. I'm looking forward to play 6400yds.

Remember the first time you hit a metal driver? The old school Taylormade? That sound of metal power was awesome.

I think I still have the "spoon". I bet it still sounds like an empty beer can. It's (the crack of the bat) the best thing at a major league bb game.

My 21* 585H produces an old school ball flight...or as close as it gets. The thing is nasty.

I also still use an 18* 906F2 that has a pretty sick ball flight. Titleist has made so many ridiculously good woods/drivers/hybrids in the past 10 years. The designs really haven't changed much in any of that stuff from them, and 99% of what they've put out has been amazing. I have a 905s and a 905r driver too...both are silly good with the right shaft. It doesn't even matter if it's really windy with the 905s...shoots rockets right through it

I carry 15* 906F2 in two different shafts (65G and 75G). Makes me regret hitting driver (910D 12*) at least once a round. I don't even carry driver if I haven't been playing. At the 6500+- distances driver is usually more trouble than it's worth.

My first 585 was the 17* in X100. Couldn't hit it; way too heavy for me.
