    Weather Thoughts

Snow Lab is reporting NEGATIVE snow depth today...and survey shows Sierra pack at 10-29% of average. Just thought you should know in case the rocks and brown patches didn't tip you off already.

Snowiest winter on record was mostly accumulated end of Jan thru Apr

    I'll take it.

I'll also take anything at all, really. Just a foot or two of warm dense glop to make the backcountry possible. I understand California winters are volatile and erratic, but just a couple feet to cover the ground would make me extremely grateful.

    Ideally, I'd take
    February 2007: 14.5" PCP
    March 2011: 19" PCP
    April 2006: 12.7" PCP

Thanks everyone for checking on the continued suckiness of conditions.

I'll note that a race with ~20 people (see the 06/07 results) is unlikely to cover costs, so the fact that the later races were cancelled is unsurprising.
In a totally ironic kicker, the mammoth race was often cancelled due to weather i.e. huge dumps. One more reason to get a race going again!

Mark McLaughlin is the best. Love reading his stuff.

Note: I'd also take March 1991.

Alpenglow has a demo scheduled at Alpine Saturday. They should have tele gear if Moment doesn't.

    AM RaceDay

    ^^^
Sorry we're going to miss you guys at AM, while we're at NS.
We are going to ski there both weekend days now.

Yeah, no surprise on the cancelled Moment Demo-Day. Can you imagine what a Cluster it could be?
(According to one of our buds - BradicalHucks who owned Bibby's - Moment bases are easily tore up...)

We oughta do a Sugar Bowl weekend and all stay at CT. Far West Championships are at SB early April. We are staying at CT.

In 12 -14 Days, NorCal gets dumped on according to the GFS. Kinda far out, but the best thing I've seen on you guys forecast in a month.

So now Moment isn't going to have a single demo day all season at either Squaw or Alpine? Pretty lame. I've been wanting to try some of their skis. I guess there's always Sierra - sometimes I forget my pass works there.

Possibly a retread of something that's been posted before, but...my hippie wife was listening to NPR this morning when a story about cloudseeding came on. Star of the segment? Alpine Meadows.

I had no idea. How long has Alpine been doing this? Do all the Tahoe resorts seed? I knew some Utah resorts did it...but I didn't know any CA resorts did it.
