From what I saw this past weekend Pico will have both 49er & KA for opening day. Didn't see much else on the mountain.

The $25 and two #4 cans for a wknd ticket is a no brainer and the trees on skiers far
left (left of the power lines) are lots of fun with a minimal hump out to the bullwheel.

Pico needs a solid base to enjoy imo. And since most of the snow making assets (payroll)
are being used at Ktown this early in the season, I would wait for more natural filling in.

Sage counsel and well worth the waiting. Classic design, nice aspect.

Fuck Fat Bikes. I would so rather be on these...
    http://youtu.be/tcQcVwcUkTw
...as far as I can tell when my skinny bike can't get it done, my marquettes can. Such an unreal fun, cheap, simple, and durable way to shred. You will not believe how functional, stable, and confidence inspiring the fucking plastic skis are. Shape is everything.

^^^^^^^plastic snowblades? well if there's some sorta way to attach a surfboard rack to them so I can ride miles of coastline on the beach to that honey hole of a spot, or ride in the snow like no ones business, or crush skinny tires in the up/down/tech department, then maybe i'll try plastic snowblades

Getting a good coating of ice here on the Maine Coast.

Weatherman dangled the possibility of a weekend storm. Think he wants us to keep tuning in.

drove up from the cape tonight. 44 when I left the cape, 28 when I got home. black ice warnings and salt trucks all over the place.

a snowstorm would be nice. haven't skied in a month.

Shit I may be a lil late on this, I've had some catching up to do. Apparently I'm not tech savvy enough to get these apps to work. Another +1 for pico. I've only been there a few times but the lack of crowds will get me back there this season.

Cheers to a good season guys. Sorry I missed out on the fest this year, had a crazy fall schedule. There will be pork products a plenty this winter! A few new creations to add to the list too.

There were two steps needed for the K-Pico connection:
    1. Cut trails
    2. Add lifts

    What they did:
    1. Cut trails
    2. Connect snowmaking system

Apparently Kmart had slightly different end priorities than skiers do for that project.

Going to take this moment unencumbered by weather fawning to spam it up a little.

First, Keith and company are taking January and February off for extended ski tour, so we are submitting a build for production next week that will be the last build with Praxis until March, earliest. If anyone was thinking of getting a pair of our current models to ski on this winter, now is the time. Also, remember that established mags get $100 off our regular price, see my post in Gear Swap for an extra incentive to jump on this build.

Second, we are about to launch a new model, built in Quebec, 105 underfoot, 20mm of taper with a 20m turn radius in the 178. Maple core options, carbon or titanal(!!!!!), shape combines features from our DB, HB and Magic. As with our other model intros, we will offer you all first crack with a beta program deal on the first build (178 only....I know). Pm me for details. We are also looking to crowd fund some of the mold costs, so stay tuned on that.

Thanks, apologies for the spammy blog, carry on.

The Beach application is legit for the fat bike. But MTB season is plenty long enough in Vt fer me. Winter's for slidn and we can roll a solid 8+ months. The plastic ski turns silly fast grass turns into far less silly fast grass turns. They rock and cost 1/10th what a fat bike does. Fills the same void. Tele-marquette-ing FTW.

Sorry Dave, not even a sorta good substitute other than the cost.

Another +2 for Pico. When it's good it's really good.

I'm not sure I understand. Are they plastic just because they are cheap so you can trash em Or is there a benefit to the plastic? Do you use skins, regular bindings, boots? Metal edges? Assuming they have a really short radius?

I've skied the wildcat brooks with snow blades in late season stream blow out conditions and they can be very fun.

I've been watching it for a few days on the GFS loop as well. But I usually try not to get my hopes up unless the storm is still looking good 5 days out. Guess what, we are at the 5 days out mark and it is still looking good.
Of course some last minute unforeseen ripple in the Jet stream will probably push it 53 miles further offshore and the NEK will get only 2.637" due to heavy shadowing by the whites.

    tele-marquette-ing

I think those things would actually make me enjoy low tide skiing. so that I like.

took the 1st ride on the new fatty this am. holy moly fun! dirt road to powerline to paved road to a coupla/few miles of icy leaves/light crunchy snow singletrack, and soft new trails that need packing in, back to a different road and home. 50 minutes of everything fatty!

crazy how fun/fast it is on dry trail. whippy for all that rubber

    i'm sold!

    Speaking of White Mtn shadowing...
Whatever happened to all the clipper systems we used to get around here? Those are the bread and butter of the NEK. These large coastal systems get blocked by the Whites and we get jack shit for snow. When we get on the clipper train, we do much better as it seems like it never stops snowing.
