Anyone been up Bolton lately? I'm looking to skin a lap or two tomorrow someplace with coverage.

^^ Thanks lynchy I assume it's going to be icy...May limit me as I only have crampons. Two slides with potential, one a 4 mile flat slog. Interesting.....

Cannon today...a whole day crammed in by Noon, due to no lines and working hard to deal with the firm-loose-firm-loose. Worked Peabody and Zoomer chairs...that is, they worked me.

There were some uplift flurries...at one point the cloud doubled its output, but fizzled out within seconds. Cannon plans on Zoomer and Avalanche midweek...amazing since the slopes were both bare grass at Noon today.

First day out riding the wheel today, nice soft and sugary snow until the sun dipped low enough to put the hill in the shadows. Goddamn skiing feels good!

Solid job by the crew at the local bump here in CT to blow enough snow a few weeks ago to make it through the midweek warm up unscathed. Good snowmaking temps this week should really let them lay down a solid base. The season is off and running.

Second hand, but a friend was there on Tuesday before the warm up and said it was worth it mid mountain up but very thin down low past the last pitch on spillway.

Have to ask this at some point..

What are you guys using for skins? I've narrowed it down to a couple different ones but want to know what's actually been working well in the field, no need for reviews.

bd ascension nylon. been using them for a good 20 years. not the same ones. get new ones every few seasons. I go with standard no tail clip version. well now I just cut the tail clips off as they don't offer the standards anymore. ascension nylons are perfect, all told.

I've had very little problem with any of them. I still use my red G3s from 15 years ago and some purple ascensions from 12 or so years ago that I've reglued. I have some 4 year old orange ascensions that got used several days last season. They are all cut for different skis. You do have to wax the csd.com skins before use if that makes any difference.

Actually I have a pair of waxed csd.com skins that I installed BD tail clips on that have never been used in the basement. They were cut for 177cm, 132/100/123 skis. PM me if you're interested and we can discuss price.

I have skins from climbingskinsdirect.com. They were cheap and are still going strong after two seasons with lots of use and one season sitting in my closet when it barely snowed in Tahoe. They stick, they, climb, they come up to 140mm, and they're about $50 cheaper than retail on anything else. Not a shill, I promise, just a big fan of cheap stuff that works.

+1 on CSD skins. Only used them a handful of times, but I have no complaints this far. Plenty of grip skinning up icy groomers before work. Their twin tip attachment system is pretty sweet, too, especially if you put the elastic stretcher on the tail instead of the tip.

Thanks Peruvian, I'd take you up on that offer but they're too small for the skis I'm using.

Sounds like CSD is pretty well respected, a little iffy on the clips since my tip and tail are fat as hell. Could probably mod something up though.

further south and east the better I think. maybe 2-4 depending. so a nice festive day with the snowglobe going making the groomers ski nice and soft all day

the mtb will be good as well. maybe better at this point.

fucking super fun surf this am. 3 hours out with air temp in the low/mid 20's, water temp 46/47.

good workout. coffee by the woodstove..........ah.........

Looking pretty good for the notch area. I'd expect the resorts are going to go blow happy with this cold snap coming through.

Hmmph. Looks like mtbikerboarder has it going on at home today. Whoda thunk, best bc in the NE this weekend is in Wissahickon. Also means that the best fat bike beach riding is in NJ, snow and sand FTW!

5" light fluff here at the house but its changing over to sleet now, spending the day tuning, drinking beer and prepping. Webbernet/video break while the cordless drill recharges.
