75 at Oakland Metro today with Bogies on 3 of 4 par fives. One penalty stroke. Didn't hit the ball great but planned my misses well and got a few lucky breaks. Putting was not bad instead of my usual horror show.

Some old guy?!! Have you not heard that 60 is the new 30? I'm only a few years into that.

I say GAME ON. Chambers Bay, from the tips with one stroke per hole awarded. Using online hole descriptions, Sat images and Google pedometer, it appears the 7165 yard layout has only 2 holes where the carry needed to reach the fairway might require a wedge to a more forward tee as an opening shot. Unless I cave and use one of those monster mallets designed for 14 y o girls to compete and to soothe the egos of men of lesser skill.

I'll choose SkitoBe for our foresome as he has played the course and knows my game. He's got one of those newly legal distance finders that most golfers use to see how far they are from the green they're going to miss.

FYI- My request of a course played under $50 was not to spare my wallet (Soc.Sec. pays better than my last job) Rather to move the match to a shorter, tighter and less will maintained track that would play into my favor. Well played Skiballs. I will PM you next week to select a date. I can only play on a Saturday. Oh, wait. At my stage of life, everyday is Saturday.

I have been thinking of my ball choice and am testing some alternatives to the Pro-V. The new longer irradiated balls from Fukushima, Japan.

I love the trash talk and match discussion. This thing needs to happen and a full report needs to be posted to this board.

Any Denver mags play Hyland Hills? Decent? I am planning on being there Monday AM, and perhaps Riverdale in the PM if any of you need your wallets lightened.

Hyland Hills is good bang for the buck, while I was slightly unimpressed with Riverdale. You'll hear quite a few people voting for Legacy Ridge as one of the better courses in the area, but my personal favorite is Indian Peaks.

Indian Peaks is worth the extra 10 min drive. Riverdale Dunes is really fun.

I'm thinking we need to change venues. 2nd week of December Bandon Dunes, if it's cold and rainy we can go skiing at mt hood.

There it is wooley, 2nd week of December Bandon Dunes. Greens fees are only $100 that time of year and back up skiing. I'll fly to Portland, we can meet up there.
I think shitstain lives somewhere around there. So plan on a side trip.

Oregon coast in December= cold rainy and windy. If you are hopping on a plane then why not go to So Cal.

Great match yesterday Skitobe. Beautiful day. You winning 3 & 2 was fun. And no pushups! My new "Pro Tour" swing was taking a day off. I need to grove it by hitting a few hundred. That 33' bird on 18 eased my pain. Thanks again Alan Alda.

Skiballs - Been there, done that. A lot. REAL golf!! Bearing down hoping to only 3 putt over the snow using a 3-Wood for the long ones. Your playing back into my game. Lots of wind would be good. I'll get back to you. If you are the scratch golfer you seem, I'll enjoy watching you. And 18 to me would seem fair.

MacDermott and MacDuff were sitting in the clubhouse, in front of the fireplace on a raw, blustery day. The freezing rain was beating against the windows as their beards thawed out. Outside, the wind from the North Sea roared with gale force. The pair were silent for a long time over their whiskeys. Finally, MacDermott spoke, "That was quite a round of golf. Same time next Saturday ?" "Aye," MacDuff replied, "weather permitting."

i think there should be a tourney. seems like enough of you live close enough and have some time and dough that if 2 could work it out 20 could.

i'll drive the beverage cart naked.

i love doing just about anything in shitty weather. golf is much cleaner than most.

The fairest bet is an over under, based on stroke play. For example Bandon is a tough track for me braking 80 is a good score, for you braking 90 would be a good score.
If we played an easy course the numbers might be 75, 85 respectively.

Wind and cold is fine, but if it's raining on the coast, it's snowing in the mountains. I will be skiing.

Request for beta...heading to Palisade for a wedding in early October. Looking to play in the Roaring Fork Valley area one day, and Summit Cty next day.

Any must play courses? Since I don't get out to the homeland in the summer anymore, looking for top tier/memorable loops. Thanks for any help!

i played great blue twilight last night and sucked to embarrassment to a degree i haven't felt on the course. i actually hit two balls on practice swings. i couldn't believe it. for the first 9 holes i couldn't hit straight and couldn't putt. i've decided that when i have heavy things to take care of i can't get my mind free enough to play golf. either stress, attention or karma. so i'm not going to play again until heavy things are dealt with. things got better once i was alone on the back 9 but i had lost all confidence by then. very frustrating.

Hiked the home course today... Gully runs through 3 holes. It's a little sketchy, but pays off.

Bristol Harbour... 13, 14, and 15. Came out of there with a record number of balls for me. Two 5 gallon buckets worth of balls... 62 unscarred urethanes. My uncle just gave me another 2 dozen pro Vs he found, so looks like I'm all set for a long time. I have 2 buddies with ridiculously nice par 3 courses at their houses...one is a course sup and the other is his best friend that works for him on the side. They get the majority of the shit balls for shag ball stock.

I thought maybe not Durand. Too many retirees walking in the woods every day. My personal best was 92 balls on the 4th hole at Eagle Vale. Included two sets of what I call "Snake Eyes". Two balls from the same sleeve sitting < 1 foot apart.
