I got a chance to play on a private course on some guys ranch in Pucon Chile. It was quite ridiculous. 9 holes, mostly par 3's and 4's. He has 7 guys cutting the grass everyday for him. Ponds etc, honestly one of the nicest courses I've ever played. Flagship hole was 420 yards, with the volcano framed between tree's above the fairway.

Probably my first and last time, back to reality now.

Lofts and lies yes, that's different to opening and closing a club face, opening and closing a club face is to make adjustments to an incorrect swing pattern, ie club face not square at impact, no coach worth a wank would encourage you to adjust a club head instead of learning the right mechanics to a repeatable square at impact swing....

right, but you cant *really* adjust the club face angle with a round grip, only the way it appears relative to the grip as you "sole" the club... you really only adjust face angle with your own 2 hands. Unless you have a reminder grip on your driver, there's really no point in claiming a face angle adjustment. Loft&lies, sure.

pros can have anything built to the specifications of their own swing - the adjustable drivers help mere mortals achieve a similar effect. having a driver that you can adjust to suit your swing doesn't really help your scoring shots anyway.

you are right though, no matter what happens surrounding a "good" swing, the clubface returns to square at impact.

I know nothing of the courses over there, but my answer would be, "Because it might be a better course?" It may not be, I don't know. Personally I'd make a trip back to Bandon Dunes and save the money on the plane ticket. Caddies there may not have an accent, and you may not be in Scotland/Ireland/England, but you get the same vibe, and you can score some bomb ass weed from your caddie.

The newer courses are more adept to todays game. Saying, why play a fifteen year old course is kinda like saying you wouldn't play Pebble because they changed it after Tiger's destruction. Kinda.

ya, i wasn't dissing it absolutely, just in a relative sense as in 'if i had ten days in Ireland and Scotland', then that course wouldn't come close to making the cut.

Having said that, i am a huge fan of the newest course in our area, Huntsman Springs, designed by the same guy as Bandon Dunes and the newest course at St. Andrews. Top design, very challenging, perfect conditioning, smart caddies, but BYOweed. 152 bunkers, slope of 132 from the whites, 146 blues. After you finish getting your ass handed to you there, hit me up and we'll check out the original links course in Driggs, mysteriously named 'The Links'.

Yeah, I'm just saying it doesn't have to be the birthplace of golf, and, quite literally, I never once said Bandon was the birthplace of golf. Try reading. I've never even been to Europe.

St. Andrews, I think was just an open pasture some old white dudes stuck flags on, while the spot for Bandon Dunes was searched for, all over the coast by one of the most renowned course designers of all time, until he found the perfect spot, and has created 4 or is it 5 now, amazing courses all in one spot. He didn't care that there were only 3,000 people in the town, it was about pure golf.

Not to mention that of the stories I've heard about people going to Ireland and Scotland for golf, well over half of them say the weather was beyond miserable. I'll take the 6 straight months of 65-80 degree weather with a light breeze any day.

There's loads of cracking courses in England as well as Ireland and Scotland, up along the golf coast (north west) that will impress you, My fav is Birkdale, each hole carved out in natural dunes, another one you may not have heard of is Hillside if your got the time visit the northwest of England for some links action on your trip you won't be upset by it,

Played yesterday for the first time since at least October.
it was fun, I really miss golf.

this looks to be a good year for my Game.

The bottom line for my game is, I need to work out to play well I cannot be a lazy fat fuck during the summer.

I changed my ball position for stock shots last year and this break really solidified the change. I was making great impact and consistent solid shots.
