Yea same with the " 5 inches " at Winter Park. More like 2 to 3.

Skier's left side of Horseshoe (Lulu's, Humbug) wasn't very good as most of the new snow slid off on the slick, firm snow underneath. Skier's right side of Horseshoe was better snow, but bumpier. Saw a rider triggered slide out on Peak 6 with tracks out. Don't really know what people are thinking riding out on the middle to south end of Peak 6 in amongst the rocks where the odds of hitting a shallow pocket and triggering a slide are pretty good.
Yeah, definitely been some bold tracks out there. Surprised it took so long. Not very deep up there to begin with right now.

Coppers snow stake cam legitimately had 4 inches... Breck measures high up on the Mtn. Wouldn't be surprised if they got 5 inches there if copper got 4... 2 inches at vail, keystone, and a basin doesn't seem too outlandish... Which of those reports don't you believe? But not surprised that beaver's 8" is bogus.

besides the 8" report at the beav possibly being bogus, anyone ski and know if it's at least soft?

Disagree. Figure on 2" near close yesterday and I buy 6" fresh today. Shit got tracked in a heartbeat though.

Copper 4" dust on crust except in Spaulding Bowl which had a controlled opening today at about 10:30am for first time this season. Unfortunately, by 11:30 most of it had been pretty worked over. 4" in bowl on winter accumulation was pretty good though. Thanks patrol !

Per the forecasts I've seen it should snow Friday thru Monday so either day shouldn't suck (with peak Saturday/Sunday AM??). You can take this schedule as gospel and pencil in your day timer :

Headwall and Teo opening tomorrow at CB. Along with the NFL, it should be a good weekend with some new snow. Hopefully the storm hits Taos, too, since that's where I'll be.

The Loveland inch skied damn well in places...had first tracks in Patrol Bowl and set off a lot of sluffing. They're running the cat tomorrow and were bombing the north ridge today above Rock Chutes.

Sunny and warm again today after last nights dusting. Bear lake snotel showing a couple inches but that was prob pretty baked today. Couple friends rode dead elk yesterday. Still so thin around these parts. It's gonna take a colossal spring to get us anywhere near normal. Been a long time since I've seen the DT/DE apron this bare going into the second week of feb. Looks like the upslope this weekend isn't happening either. FML!

@alpinord - where did you get those forecast graphics?

Yes, Sat PM / Sun AM is likely time of best snow across the state, though things could keep filling in on Sun/Mon for some areas. A nice little event for Colorado...this cut-off storm could have easily missed us to the north or south, so let's consider ourselves lucky. We need all the luck we can get.

    Hi Joel,
Thanks for all your forecasts. Do you use any static URLs for any of the maps you post? If so, they could be added to this application.

From Wx Weather app for the Mac, iPhone & iPad. You can customize it as you wish for locations and weather maps, including web cams for snow stakes.

skied the Beav today. 40 degrees in the valley but a nice day. Skinned up the Bald Spot and found literally 3-4' of rotten, faceted, junk. Some parts were wind scoured and found some wind slab but mostly rotten junk. Never seen it like that, virtually unskiable in spots. Nice walk however on a beautiful day.

5 inches?! Man I don't know about that... 5'' is a bit of a stretch. More like 2-3''

I showed up at about 11 and people were saying it was coming down like no one business from 9am to 10:30. Intermittent snow and sunshine until I left at 2:30. Conditions are pretty sweet though.

Stone Creek is open but after the sun and warmth yesterday I didn't even bother. Black Bear and Royal Elk are still a LONG ways away is my guess.

Off to the ‘Boat tonight, and while most other models have dropped precipitation totals, especially for the northern mountains, the GFS is still calling some big accumulation for the Steamboat area. Seems too good to be true….
