Wish I could have, the damn George's have too much awesome float! Stuck with bottomless pow breaking at knee level on pretty much every run! At MT Ellen and I got there about 10:15 when summit and Northridge were on hold. Hiked up (still don't have skins for the new skis) and hit lower FIS. Only one set of tracks until the south bound cutover. It was incredible, sorry no picks as we decided it was too good to have someone have to interrupt their line to take pics. Trails on top weren't great once Northridge opened, too wind blown. Woods however were a different story.

    EC Storm Stoke -- Cats'

    Hello Interwebers,
Resident troll C-Murda chiming in with some Catskills stoke from Platty today (I know, shitty iphone quality but gets the idea across).

I would say about a foot overnight which lead to some great (dare I say it?) Pow skiing in the Catskills this AM! Boney in some parts but TONS of fun to get out and ski this storm.

Its what the 'skills finally needed to start their season. Hope the rest of you guys enjoy as much as i did and cant wait to see more stoke!

    C-Murda

Sick dude!!!!! See you later than expected (^^^ above post) but on my way kid! would not miss this one! Tomorrow is sick!

You would not happen to have a pair of plum heel pieces would ya? My replacements are on the way and my back up is on a plane to AK (not really mine but thought I would access to them). Just checkin. If not will be riding lifts or hiking for turns.

No matter . . . it is going to be sick!

    Where is my ups truck . . . ?

    Dammit.

Co-woker called dibs on Monday off already, somewhat rightfully so, as I had yesterday off. Now I work tomorrow, Monday and have tuesday off.

Really flirting with the idea of heading out after work tomorrow for VT.

wicked busy, yesterday was the biggest day ever at the shop, which has been on that corner since 1967.
same family, Kenny the owner was one of the best of the early freedoggers.
he won multiple gelande contests back in the 60's.
Vail, Alta, French Alps. good folks, who live skiing.
the boot room is like a museum. dude can still rip at 67.
if they don't show, i've got a quiver of killer choices you can ride, until we get you sussed out.

good stuff y'all, keep em comin'!

Short-ish man with a 'stache, also Torin's dad maybe? Friendly guy both on the phone and in the shop. It was fun seeing those guys interact with the kids&parents coming through. Great vibe in that place. Are all those boots up on the wall his? Awesome addition to the place; shows just how far the technology has come in a short time, too.

I'd be extremely surprised if those plates were mine,, I was under the impression that Torin ordered my plates today. I told him I was on a pretty strict budget after agreeing on the boots so he didn't want to order before clearing the price with me.

'preciate it, Buttah. I think I'll ski on my old gear till then, just to feel shitty boots and short floppy skis before I'm done with 'em.

to errybody else: FUCK YEAH. Powder in the catskills? Thigh deep on the Ice Coast? FUCK YEAH.

Got some early laps in with Seqouishan and TWD. Its great to have the terrain we want in play now.
Tough day for pics with the snow coming down so hard

Then some mid day hiking with CO Jones and TWD

CO Jones stoked on his Smuggs Pass this year.

Then HA got off work for a last lift lap, still finding deep snow at days end

Was away the last few days, but friends told me prior to this storm, UV was pretty much barren - maybe an angry inch around or so, but for all intents and purposes, nadda.

a buddy of mine was there today from 1st chair. reported about a foot by the time he left at around 1pm. upper half of mountain dry pow refills. lower half or below 3k kinda heavy and not filling in the piles from yesterday 5+ inches very well. he said, "not epic", but very good skiing. he said he skied al's and reported excellent cover with nothing to hit. if al's is in good shape, the brooks should be good to go. at least in the TB area. elevator shaft may still have open running water in spots.

heard from a co-worker that the sherb was pretty good. he did two full laps. good cover. due to wind seemed much deeper new storm snow on lower half than upper. lots of traffic today, but witnessed none on gost.

monday is the soonest i can get up there. if th gal is with me i'll be touring low, if not, hopefully i'll get into the ravines or up top, winds willing.

Skied the sherb in the storm a week ago, it was top to bottom goodness with waterbars mixed in. Even got up a bit on Hillmans. I would imagine WC brooks to be in alright with the occasional rock scrape thrown in. Wouldn't recommend the new sticks but could be fluffers for sure.
