On the iciest WROD day at Tahoe last year--a year with many, many icy wrod days--one guy was ripping up the place on Spatulas. I believe that's called a statement.
And when did this become the "Why I wear a pack in the East" thread?

    Who needs a backpack?

I can fit two sandwiches, two beers, two candy bars, my wallet, phone, keys, two or three bottles of pills, and several other things in my jacket.

Which brings to mind the watch scene in Pulp Fiction.

That's pretty neat that jackets make you think of men shoving items up their asses.

ok, here's another of my not so funny stories = lame!

check out lady and I start chatting about backcountry cabins.
she gets on her high horse telling me how she and her husband know of every cabin around here.
I mention the one we use at "our own private ski hill"
and she says where's that cabin?

ITS RIGHT THERE! 10km from the trailhead, at a big staging area, you can drive under it!
    clearly she don't know shit!!!

good thing I didn't tell her about our 2nd cabin at mid mtn ... hehe ...
We, the RATBAGGERS, formally axcept our duty is to trigger avalaches on all skiers ...

Being a Hoilday ski vacation for ppl I heard a few choice ones. This gal says to her significant other. "I don't like those square tips on my skis get me some different ones." I smiled and so did here husband. Another one was a Ski Instructor talking to a women client in his class. Overhear him say. "Can you hear me." Nothing.........He says. "Have you talked to anyone in the last 2 weeks or are you just using technology to converse." No tip for you!

    Overheard yesterday @ Whistler....

"Greens are harder than blues?? Right, dude?"
"Really nice grooming here...so happy there's no powder."

    AND

"I thought we'd duck the ropes and be back on the main trail right away....instead we were wondering if we'd need to ration out almonds to survive..."

The last one was in the elevator at the hotel and the dude (tard) was proud of this story...

At the Truckee Safeway the day after Xmas:
Checker: "Did you find everything you were looking for?"

Who's the gaper in this story? Me, who knows better than to go into the Truckee Safeway the day after Xmas but went anyway.

While riding Storm Peak at Steamboat

Aussie: These conditions have been tough all week.
Me: What do you mean? There's been three feet of snow since Monday.
Aussie: I know. Bloody hard to get around this place with all of this powder snow. It's too cold here
Me: Think of it this way, the cold temps keep the fresh snow light and fluffy.
Aussie: So that's a good thing?

it's interesting how much shit people get in here for suggesting they like riding something other than powder. don't get me wrong, i love the stuff, but there are obviously a lot of people on the hill who stay on the groomers and still love riding. i don't think that makes them gapers. maybe country music listeners, but not gapers. shouldn't they be part of the family that loves riding even if they don't do it the way you do?

    This.

I love hearing people say that. That's the entire reason Monarch was so amazing yesterday even though it was busy and a full 24hrs after any new snow.

You got a problem w/ country western music. There's nothing like trenching carves at 50mph & listen to dwight yoakam. On Ice or pow. After 40 years of skiing you get over all the hype and just ski.
