Here's a quick distraction from the ensuing damage, and a reminder of where some of the better known ECRC crowd were 4 years ago, all thanks to LH of course.

    Cheers

reminds me of times having to ditch my car high on jeff notch road in winter when the road is just snomo packed. we'd just skin from where we had to, up caps ridge to the beach/ravine and dig the car out later. luckily we never got busted. ahh that ole suby loyal wagon.

winds ramping up here york, me. good day for yoga and cooking with the gal.........gonna drive to the beach later to see all the water moving about.

anyone enroute to the snow wv yet?

ML, where is that from, Brooklyn? We are at our vt place now but our building in Hoboken is on the river and they have sandbagged around the whole first floor...crazy shit. JGB...if I remember you are not far from my inlaws and the water is at the top of their seawall already. So the wife just handed me a bloody mary.....i see where the next 2 days are going. Good luck folks.

Getting more fierce in boston. Meanwhile, for some storm day reading I wrote up a fall trip report that includes a bit of snow stoke.

Windy, but so far so good. They expanded the evacuation zone to include my house last night when they decided that flooding on par w/ a cat 4 was possible. The good thing is that if you look at the actual lidar generated flood projection maps, my house & the next door neighbors are a little bit higher (front yard is 19' above sea level) than the rest and projected to stay dry even in cat 4 type flooding. Checked in on my parents who live directly on the water, and the AM high tide was only about 1/2 way up the 12' seawall. Normal full moon high tides usually come to the bottom of it. I saw 3 storms as a kid come over the seawall and onto the lawn, and it came up over in Irene last year. But so far so good. Unless tonight's high tide is a good 10' higher than this mornings my parents are good, and it'd probably have to be a good 20-25' higher before I have much to worry about.... other than falling trees and possible loss of power. Hoping for minimal damage, no power outages, and the NYSE to be closed again tomorrow.

Things are getting ugly hear in Boston. Winds are whipping by the coast and lights are starting to flicker. Just took a drive along Quincy Shore Drive and the beach is mostly gone, road is flooded and there's a few boats washed up on land. Yikes. Good thing I've got food, water and gin.

NM, just realized that was from a movie. Guess my sarcasm meter was broken, but I really didn't think people would be joking about stuff like that right now. :nono2:

better than last year. added some more single track miles in victory and bridges along VAST, dry summer and voila, no one was throwing their bike or yanking derailers out of the rear wheel. Sounded like everyone in Granby were sighting their rifles yesterday. 250 people can burn a trail in pretty well.

we rode at party pace. victory single track.

I AM NOT PANICKED I AM JUST OUT OF SELTZER AND A CAR ALARM KEEPS GOING OFF AND NOW A BUILDING PARTIALLY COLLAPSED A FEW BLOCKS AWAY AND ALSO A CRANE FELL OVER ON 57TH ST. BUT MOSTLY, CAR ALARM CAR ALARM CAR ALARM CAR ALARM WIND NOISE.

Oddly enough, the climbing gym is still open, but I am going to lose power pretty soon. If anyone needs to get in touch with me, the handicap ramp also doubles as a boat launch! And thanks, LC!

Out of work early, bought a fresh bottle of rye and I think I'm ready to ride this one out. Supposedly out of work tomorrow as well, which would be great except I'm fairly sure my power's gonna go with this one. Winds have really picked up in the Upper Valley in the last hour, and the rain began moving in around 20mins ago.

    Stay safe out there folks.
