Very true, and often you might have pow on the top half of jay and pure glop at Owl's head. Mid-week, Jay is definitely worth it but if it's nuking on a weekend, I'd rather be at OH

I'll be out in that zone this weekend, maybe some trimming goin on. Any townships maggots on herE?

Saddleback is awesome, dont forget about the yurt at the bottom of casablanca to get some Dr. or Jager in ya....They got slammed a couple years ago in that big storm in March, 50 inches I think? Anyway, its a haul to get to, but you stay in Stratton and hit up the balet (some of you might know what that is)

And the last time I was there it was mid-week in March. So you can imagine how many folks were on the mountain that day.
too thinned out? shit, my favorite terrain is that which has zero trees, so...........

i love the tree skiing there. so much of it for so few users.

my 1st time ever there was as midweek day. it was puking and windy as a bastid. came equipped with skinz on purpose as i knew there was no way in hell they'd run. what a fucking day. best part is at 1230pm the lifts started and no one showed cept for a few employees and a coupla others.

great coupla surf sessions this am before work. nice visit with lynchy as well.

that storm was actually late feb and i was staying at lange girls condo at da loaf. 60 inche fell in 5 days. as much as i love saddleback, it doesn't come close to the loafs terrain, especially when the pow is deep. way longer, way steeper, and awesome side country. was up at 5am for the 2800 vert skin to the summit all 5 of those days before the lifts would turn. nice way to start any pow day. peaceful.

Thanks for all the virtual high-fives! Every day I'm getting stronger and I've resumed my love affair with food.

I've been indoctrinated into the idea that you should come out of a tree run covered in branches.

The upper/mid part of Casablanca glade. I believe it was the week after the big dump someone was talking about. Tons of bumps, but it softened up nicely:

I've really always been kind of surprised that Saddleback isn't more of a maggot darling. It's got the vibe, the terrain, the semi-unknown feel about it. I guess there just aren't as many folks getting up to Maine.

That's not a glade, it's a wide open intermediate trail with a couple of trees in the middle of it. I'm sure it'd be fun with a foot of powder on it though. Hell, it's probably even fun as pictured. But it's no glade.

Exactly, it's just a bit too far for most.... That's ok by me, means less folks to enjoy it Hope I get a chance to get up there this year.

you would be surprised my friend. the things that went down inside that cheesy creepy rumford milltown bar blew the mind. things that went down DO NOT happen at any clubs that i've ver heard of.

upon entering you sit down and at the start of the show the announcer sez, "all right boyz you can touch the girls any way you want, but the nipples ain't pimples so don't try and pop em."

one tuesday night, i musta been all of 22 years old, i'm at the bar getting a drink when all of a sudden i feel a hand grab my ass and this completely nekkid gal (jasmin) wedges herself in between me and the bar and sez, while giving me a full on rub through, "grab onto my tits and don't let go till i tell ya", and proceeds to stick her tongue down my throat till the song was over. i handed her 2 bux and thanked her

and then there was the full oil rub downs. having no stage was the best. we'd put our chairs, back against the wall so the girlz would have a place to crawl, climb, grind, grope, beav to the face, oh ya!

everytime i took someone new there that thought the big city strip clubs were where it was at, they left in awe and said they could never go to those other clubs again. and then for a coupla 20's...........

Before I was a professional ski bum I was an arborist for almost 20 years. Last part of that statement is true. If the mountain cut this glade then they should not be proud of that. Way over cut. Upper alpine trees really struggle after severe thinning. This needs to be rejuvenated asap or they risk losing the remaining trees. Hire professionals. Get a plan. The other great example of over cutting was at Sunday River 15 years ago or so when they developed OZ. Certainly a big fan of thinning and maintaining glades in the east but not like that. Cannon is doing a good job but could do more. Jay is Jay and always did right. Would love to see Stowe do more. Mad River Glen gets it. And last not but not least Magic - nice work Dowork and crew.

The photo does make it look so, but the hill's not flat overall (at least not the 1000 feet or so serviced by the lift that gets to this run). It's actually nice that they have a rather fast lift that lets you lap the more expert terrain without going to the bottom and riding the extremely slow double back up (which may have been replaced in the last two years, I'm not sure).

replacing the summit t-bar with that fucking quad is an absolute travesty. the t-bar kept 80% of skiers and almost all snowboarders off of that ridge. that 1000 ft vert ridge is so nice, but too bad you can't take that pitch for 2k+ of vert with no let up like at the loaf. nice to have both.
