Been traveling a lot and my dumb phone can't post.

Great snowliage shots all...especially like the one with the farm in the foreground TC. Damn, I miss living in Vermont.

Another great weekend at Magic. Mrs MNIAW tagged along and is now bitten with the Magic bug. She may not ski much, but she will be holding court in the BLBP this winter. If things work out, we may become residents of Vermont again (albeit part-time only at this point).

We followed up the Volunteer Day with a short long weekend in NH and some nice hiking above Greeley Ponds (Osceola East area).

Screws come out of my knee on Monday. I told the ortho surgeon I was skiing on Veteran's Day. He looked and me and said, "You're going no matter what I tell you, so NO MOGULS and NO JUMPS!"

As far as book time: the old AMC rule of .5 hour per mile and .5 hour per 1000 ft of vert GAINED is applicable here. I don't have the mileage off the top of my head, but i'm guessing 7 miles rt, and up 3000 (a bit less), so 5 hours rt estimate. i'd bet you can do it in less too though without much sweat and tears.

Unless I'm greatly mistaken, I don't think this is correct. You can park at Underhill State Park for both Maple and Sunset ridges.
    thanks guys!

With stoke levels quickly rising, I thought this may come in handy for the early season:

Thanks BD, but just called and they are charging $70 for a mount as well! I guess these shops really have to make up for their lost retail income due to online stores, but this is robbery!

that is steep. they won't make up a cent if it keeps even more people from coming in to their stores!

for that amount you can get the needed drill bits and still have bucks left towards a jig purchase. if you have an old pair to practice mounting on it's well worth going DIY. i was inspired to do my own mounts after one too many botchy mounts at a previously trusted shop. i've probably mounted a dozen pairs since and never botched one. it's easy.

Start doing it yourself. Nothing gets me stoked like mounting up a pair of skis. And you can get all the tools you need fot the cost of 1 mount:

assuming you have a drill and hammer:

Drill bit (you can use a regular bit and duct tape to set depth)
tap (recommended if ski has metal)
center punch (I use and old awl)
digital calipers (Harbor Freight for $10 or so)
    glue or epoxy
chisel to get rid of volcanoes if necessary
    beer

Yikes!... 2nd the DIY... not that hard.

You are right, though. I worked at St. Moritz for a few years in high school and the shop used to operate in the red. They moved away from that, but have since gone under (taking Ski Market with them).

A bit of trivia for Boston mags, this is the SI cover model and daughter (Ashley) of Ski Market cofounder, Tom Richardson:

Well next time, use a ghillie suit and turn your camera's flash off and you'll be able to stay in her bushes for MUCH longer.

Damn dude, this thread is impossible to keep up with! Going for a hike sounds awesome, hopefully things don’t get too ugly with the hookers & blow on Friday night so we can get up and go for a walk before BigDaddy’s on Saturday. Thanx for the foliage info & I can not wait for this whole debacle to begin, see ya soon.

I did it 4 times. 5% chance I actually ski at Killington this year. If anyone runs out, let me know and I'll share.

rain, rain, rain. happy to see the heavens getting rid of this precip so we go high/dry n let the ground freeze so that a nice warm white insulating layer don't cover up da warm brown ground and plague us later.

surf wuz up this am with head high drops.

waves were good, but i was not this am.

happens sometimes. shoulda stayed in bed with beauty blonde and fleece sheets

Anyone gonna be skiing MRG midweek this year?
20s midweek pass is only $199 (for the next 5 days, then goes up to $300) and I'm gonna either have Sun-Weds or Weds-Sat off (hopefully the latter).
Driving 2 hours to ski solo is pretty lame, though.

    Great stoke up in here.

Wayyyy off topic, but the last search on my computer is "how to convince my parents to have another baby". Sounds like my wife had a talk with her because I started to type in mtbr and "my dad needs a reversal" popped up.

If you don't mind skiing with a couple of old farts my wife and I will be there on the good days.
