that is brutal. seems like they'd have a warning sign for something that big near the fairway.

Haven't played in over two weeks. I'm punishing myself for throwing a club last round. Few more days and I'll get out again; I'm still too disappointed in myself to get out sooner.

    Good luck at Heron.

I dropped on the other side of the tree and ended up with a bogey. I didn't count the drop as thats total BS to have a giant wasp nest right next to the fairway. We called the pro shop to tell them and they didn't seem too concerned. A lot of old people play there and I got out of there fast. An old person that couldn't run would be totally F'd.

    Good call.

Anyone ever been in a fight on a golf course?

I know that's a stupid question. I don't tend to get in fights anywhere, not to mention when I am basically walking through a beautifully landscaped park setting, relaxing with friends. But this summer has brought out some weird behavior from fellow golfers. The twilight crowd is dodgy around these parts.

Two nights ago I was golfing the twilight. Long Par 5. Group ahead was on green. My bro was 300 hundred from the green and hit a 3 iron that landed about 80 yards from the green and rolled to within 50 or 60 yards. I was waiting in the fairway about 250 out and was waiting to hit my second when the dude on the green sprints 60 yards back to my brother's ball. Lines up to take a hack back at us, duffs it 40 yards. He then runs those forty yards, picks up the ball and throws it back towards me. I am as even keeled as it gets but I was fuming mad. I see my cousin bolt from the trees, where he spent most of the round, and get in this guys face as I slowly walked up the fairway. The moron's friends started running towards my cousin and we all converged. One of them took off their shirt WTF? When they realized that my cousin is certifiably insane and huge, and that we all had about 14 weapons of varying lengths and lofts, they eventually turned around and started to the next tee, mumbling something about how we were lucky about something or some such.

Could have so easily been such a stupid scene. Have another story from 3 weeks ago about two guys jumping the fence in front of us at twilight and basically teeing off on the box we were walking to.

Just venting, as my vibe is seriously harshed. Anyone have any good stories?

    Commonlaw,
What course? You have a right to be mad. If the ball was 50 yards short of the green I don't get it. Taking off your shirt to fight on a golf course seems pretty ghetto. I was playing a twilight round last month and a group of 20 something drunk guys were landing balls on the green while we were putting. We were pretty pissed and a few of the (less drunk, better mannered ) guys apologized on the next tee. It just seems like there are no sports devoid of douchebagggery . 20% of the people in this world are douchebags. I just call it a good day if I don't run into one

I was at Jackson golf, Seattle Muni course, for the first story. Jefferson, Seattle Muni, for the second. I'm no bourgeois, but I expect more from my fellow golfers.

I almost had to kick a member's ass heading back to the shop a couple Fridays ago.

There were a bunch of guys out in groups of six playing 40 for someone's 40th birthday. I was parked on the cart path, right next to a couple of guys one shot down a long par 4 getting out to take their shot. I have earbuds in and don't hear anything, but all of the sudden they hunch down in a hurry.

I look towards the tee, and it's the first time I've ever watched a ball steadily get bigger as it rockets towards my face. Drunk douche #1 had either gotten impatient or driven back to the tee to hit another, and ended shanking a line drive right at me. Lucky for me, the spin carried it away at the last second and the ball glanced off my bed. (It might have landed in there, but I didn't stick around to let him check.)

When they roll up from the tee, drunk douche #1 is fairly apologetic, so I manage to keep my cool. Drunk douche #2, riding shotgun, mumbles something with a shitty smirk, so I cut my engine to let him repeat it. "Do you need some toilet paper?" I give him the death glare, fire my engine back up and book it out of there.

Lucky for them it was Friday afternoon, so instead of broadsiding them with my Workman I just killed the rest of the afternoon flirting with the flower girl. When I got back to the shop, the superintendent was getting reports of the same guys driving around in the fescue, continuing to be general assholes.

I'm stoked I stumbled on this thread. I will be back with some shots of my course; we have been getting some great sunrises with all the smoke.

there is a difference of being hit into, and a ball rolling on the green you are on, or rolling up near "your" area.

Get it right before you step/shit/piss on balls.

People get almost get more butthurt on the course than in this forum. Pussies.

I only get pissed on the course for bad choices I make, or slow play. Fuck the rest and relax.

I had a guy throw my and another in my group's tee shots into the woods after we hit into them. We had no idea they were there, as it is a completely blind shot and they had been well ahead of us up until that point. Additionally, both drives were smoked- mine was a good 30 yards past my normal landing area.

I was playing great and didn't want to fuck up the round by getting heated, but another guy in my group (who had been playing terribly and was already pissed off) took it upon himself to go after the asshole and start screaming at him. Incomprehensible hostilities were exchanged while the asshole's wife, completely embarrassed, attempted to wish herself out of existence. They then sped off, skipping the next hole in order to make some space. We did finally catch up with them on 17, though, so we were able to see the asshole leave his putter on the fringe after walking off. And when his wife came back to retrieve it from us on 18, it was in two pieces.

Can't just leave stuff lying around like that, people don't always watch where they're walking.

if someone hits to within 20' of me at the right distance, i call that hitting into me.

shot 130 at great blue heron lakes. it's a little distorted because we decided to play match play toward the end with no drops and there was a lot of water. it was my first time at that course and every time i plunked one in the water i tried again, which didn't work out to well on most occasions, sometimes more than once. probably strange to say with a score of 130, but my pitching and short game in general was actually the only thing that kept it from being much worse. i hit a fair number of really nice iron shots, too, but it was always after a penalty. i haven't kept score too much this year, but what's interesting to me is that i feel like i'm playing much better but my scores aren't reflecting it. i'm definitely capable of playing a lot better than i did in my first season, but i'm still terribly inconsistent. i may try to play there again this week and see if i can do better. i'm running out of time to break 100 this season.

Played Old Brockway Friday morning, juat a beatifull day.

Unfortunatly my swing is completly broken, no confidence in any shot.

Showed 50 on the card after nine holes (With a couple do overes in there)

I did not get pissed, just left the good balls in the bag and told myself enjoy the view / enjoy the nice day. Work on plan to rebulid swing.

I want to play more because its so nice out right now. But? how much damage can I do to a game I have been @ for 40+ years
