That's all okay, it's just when certain people use golf slang in a context in which it's clear they got it from reading the internet....lol

Heading out to play Keystone Ranch today.

Re: slow play. If you get paired up with old folks, don't assume they are going to drag the pace down. I ended up joining a threesome that had played together for years and were used to playing ready golf. I damn near had to run to keep up...

Re: getting hit in to. Dad and I were playing some nice course in Atlanta. We were a twosome, and keeping up easily with the four ahead of us, it was stacked up. Group behind us kept hitting into us as our driving distances aren't exactly the strongest part of our game. Got pretty old pretty quickly though.

One fairway had distinct 'rollers', almost like wide moguls, a couple feet high, crossing the fairway. Came over one, saw a ball. Dad walked up to it, and hit his shittiest shot of the day, a line drive right into the pond. Shook his head, hopped in the cart.

Came over the next roller, there's a ball. We look at the brand/mark. It's the old man's. He had just splashed the ball of the group behind us. They never hit into us again...

I'd rather go off the beaten path, exit Bailey, hang a left at the dead end and end up at Cinnabar Hills. I'm not a huge fan of that course either, but it's better, and there are 27 holes.
Shit, you weren't lying...I don't mind the 7 holes on the east of 101, but the rest of that track is crap. Windy as hell...won't be heading back.

my little buddy got to see the number one ranked women's golfer in the world - yani tseng - yesterday and didn't even giggle during her backswing. michelle wie had a comparatively large gallery to just about everybody we saw. she hit her tee shot on the 175 yard par 3 11th i think it was into the deep bunker beyond the green and then hit a fantastic shot 20+ yards to the pin that almost went in. some really good golf and a very nice atmosphere.

Yeah. It's a bad start when you have to say that some holes are on one side of the busiest highway in california and some are on the other. It needs a shit ton of trees to kill the wind and when they redid Riverside, they cut them all down. If you have a way to get onto Almaden CC, I recommend it, especially if you hit a fade (only two dogleg lefts).

Id also recommend Eagle Ridge and San Juan Oaks. I don't LOVE either, but they are fun.

I've only been to one LPGA event, back when they had the Vegas tourney, but had a blast.

So, Augusta just admitted two women. Should have happened a while ago, but imho it's great that they did it on their own timeline, not caving into that Martha Burk beeyatch.

I agree. I bet it would have happened sooner if it wasn't for her. I'm just so glad we don't have to hear about this every year before the Master's... so in that sense we're all winners.

    RE: Augusta.

Stupid, Men can have their own clubs. We have Bear Creek here in Lakewood. They bowed down to IBM.

Yeah, I'm all for clubs being able to reject women members, black members, celebrity members (Cypress for the most part), and all of that. I just think it says a lot about you if you join a club like that. The tradition in AZ is all men. Women can play, but not go in the clubhouse. At the same time, I'm not sure it REALLY says much about you if you have the opportunity to be a member at Augusta and turn it down.

I think it's great they did it on their own timetable. It IS up to the membership. Hell, there's a gated community in Palm Springs (of course they are all gated communities) that only sells to gay people, and that seems to be fine. Of course, my source for this information is my evil grandmother that when she went to the grocery store and saw people magazine that said the most recent Kennedy was dead (Bobby?), she raised up the magazine and said, "It's about time!"

But hey, the KKK is allowed to exist, have their own military style compounds and such on their own private land. A CC having members of their preference isn't as bad as that by any means. If a Mormon wants to only hire other Mormons, or if a Jewish person wants to hire only Jews, that should be fine. It's his business and can do what he wants. Should they be open to ridicule? Sure. Like I said, it says a lot about who they are.

    Flame away.

The former secretary of state, the provost of Stanford, and a member of the USGA board? Ticks off a lot of boxes. For some reason, I think the Augusta membership is generally approving of her politics.

Iron sets on sale at Callaway Pre-Owned today if anyone's in the market. Some deals.

Have fun at Chambers dvs. Nice track. It requires a few rounds to get it. I know its too damn late (advice for future players) but my best advice is to listen to your caddie. They are actually quite good.

Played the Manzanita Golf Course today. The best 9 holes I have probably ever played, with a few oscillating factors in my favor (weather and day of the week played). Immaculate fairways, receptive manicured (albeit slow and bouncy) greens, 1$ pabst, no one on the course, perfect weather at the beach, challenging and fun. NINE SATAN-LOVING DOLLARS. Pics when I get home in a few days.

How were the greens at Chambers? They have been having loads of trouble with the fescue putting surfaces since grow-in. I just hope they figure it out so the USGA doesn't strong-arm them into converting them to bentgrass or something silly.

As for the Augusta thing, I find it interesting that Burk initially sent a PRIVATE letter to Augusta National imploring them to allow female members, then Augusta chose to make their response to her letter PUBLIC. That's when all hell broke loose.

All that aside, I think having a Ladies' Masters Tournament would be really cool. Maybe this paves the way for that?

So we can watch them shoot 80 on those brutal greens? No thanks.

Disagree. The top players will score well from reduced yardage. Bring on the ladies at Augusta.

Maybe except for 5 people that week the carnage will be epic IMO.

i think it would be cool to have a ladies masters. the women i saw at pumpkin ridge had no problem putting. not comparing the greens and i saw the top 20 players or so, but they were draining them from distance with frequency.
