Guess the same could be said for the top performers in any sport.

????? I'm either too tired from a 12 hour day of packing to move out of my house tomorrow and move 2500 miles away, or to old to have any clue of what you're talking about. In either case, I don't care.

You guys think Fossil Trace would be a decent place to take someone from the east coast? I hear some people think it's pretty mickey mousey but is a decent taste of mountain golf without the $$$. <---True?

We used to play golf a couple times a week back east so I really want to show him what Colorado golf is all about. Any of you guys played Heritage at Westmoor? Thoughts? I feel like Riverdale Dunes is a must visit but we've played Sawgrass Stadium a couple times so should I skip Dunes? My buddy says he doesn't give a shit but I know he want's to get a couple quality rounds in while he's out so I want to make sure I do it right and take him to some unique courses. Common Ground is on the short list too.
Fossil Trace is good for a out of towner. CommonGround, unless it is cooler by Aug, will be nuclear temps out there.

Westmoor is fun. I walk it in the shoulder season with a push cart. Worth the price for the layout. No trees at all, can be really fucking hot in the summer.

I walk everything in all temps for the most part, unless it is some mountain resort mountain course with 200 yards between holes. I choose more tree lines courses in the summer for sure though.

There is some truth to that. By the end of High School, I was a 2 after playing competitive Jr. Golf since I was old enough to walk the course. Getting to scratch was going to require golf going from fun to a lot of work. Now I'm hovering at a 6 and couldn't be happier.

Same deal for me. I got down to a 1.1 index and then realized that even though I was pretty good, I was still a dime a dozen and the guys who were better than me were in fact *much* better and to get to that level you have to practice so much it would take the fun out of it (for me). Now my index shifts between a 3 - 5 on average but it's more enjoyable when I go low for a round because I don't expect it.

i still don't have a handicap and after striking the ball so well yesterday i went back and couldn't hit for shit. asi es la vida. i think i overworked yesterday. maybe can't hit irons every single day for hours and need to break it up. i try to some of everything every day, but yesterday was a lesson and i hit a lot of balls. today should have been a putting practice day since i only had an hour.

    Oh yes you do .

The handicap system is fucked up for guys like bcNC .
    Look at the scores he's posted 64-68-70-80 , the 70 and 80 get thrown out , so he's like a + 4 .
    I'm at 0 , mainly because I play at courses with 74+ course ratings and slopes of 135-140 , so when shot 10 74's and 10 84's I wind up with a 0 handicap.
Only counting the low 10 scores out of 20 never seemed right to me .
My understanding is it is done differently in the UK .

The good thing about that way it's done in the UK and Australia, is only scores from competition are used. Pretty much everyday there is some sort of comp that you get entered into if you play. So basically a 0 in the UK/AUS is better than a 0 here. No running out for a late 18 by yourself and recording the score over there! The way it should be.

I tried something new at the range tonight. Just paid close attention to how the club contacts the ball, it helped a lot.

which means what? How much turf you take? If it's toe-y or heel-y? Not doubting that the attention helped, trying to figure the focus...

Just finished four days of golf in Northern Michigan mostly at Boyne Resorts courses. Easily one of the finest golf destinations in the world and a screaming bargain on a package deal. I lost my camera but have some other pictures to post.

Here's one of me at Bay Harbor. http://www.bayharborgolf.com/index.html#theGolf

Arcadia Bluffs (didn't play with the main group)
The Alpine at Boyne Mtn: Shot 86
The Arthur Hills At Boyne Highlands: Shot 83
The Monument at Boyne Mtn: Shot 84
The Ross at Boyne Highlands: shot 83
Bay Harbor a Boyne property: Shot 87 (tired on third day)
The Bear in Traverse City: Shot 78 (easy compare to the Boyne courses)

I've played golf in some nice places and the group I play with has played every major resort and course in the world and we are going to make Boyne our annual trip. The only downside is most of these courses are not walkable.

Internet pic of Bay Harbor. Pebble Beach has nothing on Bay Harbor:

    Nice pics, 4matic.

Getting out to Wellshire in an hour. I haven't read great things about it so if it's half the "experience" others have had, hopefully it won't be so bad. Not anticipating any swing pictures since I'm heading out alone but I'll get some course shots. Supposedly Hogan has played there so I'll be walking in his footsteps. Hopefully I can hit a few shots like him too.

    Wish me luck.

Trying to make a nice, solid, even contact with the ball and not worrying how far it goes.

Nice pics, 4mat; I played the Bear a few years back. A decent track for sure, but Bay Harbor looks AMAZING. I love the mountains, but my favorite part of the world might be up nort.

Heading out his afternoon for another sultry round in No. IL.

What did you think of Arcadia? I have my closest to a hole in 1 I've ever had on the par 3 13th. I can't think of a better place to have one. It ended up 1 inch behind the hole, in a place that baffled the whole group as to how it didn't go in. I have 2 like that, and still no hole in 1's, but that was the most memorable.

I'd just like to say FUCK Wellshire. Had no record of me making a tee time and even though there was only a threesome going off at 11 (wonder fucking why dipshits) AND me showing them the reservation confirmation, they still said they couldn't get me out 'til 530.

I'm going to bite the bullet and get out to Heritage. With their coupon it's like $44 with a cart. I hear that's not the most walkable course...

anybody have an opinion on the v1 pro golf app for ipad? it's only $5, so i figure it can't hurt to check it out. when i was competitive in another sport, reviewing film helped a lot and i think it would help even without the comparisons to other players.

^Can you get anyone to take stills of your set-up, apex of backswing, contact position, and follow through?

I find stills give you a lot more feedback than video since you can really scrutinize your angles. The only thing I find video helps for is for tempo issues. Of course, that's a moot point if your app measures lines and angles.

I have an app called Swing Plane, on the Iphone, you can mark all your angles etc. for 2.99, for the Ipad it has HD.

Pretty simple and easy to use, helped me flatten my left wrist at the top and my ball striking has improved markedly

V1 is the best and used by the leading instructors. Pretty easy to use.
