Spook, do you have a Play it Again Sports in your area back home or some other place you can go look at used clubs?

I got a set of Lynx Black Cats (they were the shit in the late 90s) for $40 at a place like that. Also picked up an original release Tight Lies 16* for $15.

Not bad but I'm also a poor fucker compared to 85% of other guys so...

i'm sure there's something like that in pdx. i'm not rolling in dough either, which is why i've been asking so many questions. it's more important for me to spend my money on green fees and lessons than it is on great equipment. same reason i only have one snowboard. i'm just looking for something solid. i had something going and blew it i guess.

Just keep an eye out in your local classifieds. You'll eventually find something.

    A quick search found these:

Played today on the local redneck public course. One thing that messes it up for me is loud douchebags yelling and making noise.

On the other hand, when people clear out and it's just you out there it's great. Had some good shots but also some pretty bad ones. I just tried to have fun.

i'd like to buy them. of course the price was good. if the silliness was asking too many questions, i'm sorry. if it was being concerned about sharing my personal information for the first time in a place i take a ton of shit in when i don't know you from anybody else and have a baby at home, i'm not.

Here's what I offered Spook for $140 shipped and he questioned my integrity:

Cobra FP irons 4-gw with Nippon 103 R shaft in excellent condition
Punch 57 degree raw forged wedge
Titleist 975D driver with prolite 3.5 firm flex shaft.

Spook, if you're so paranoid about your babies security just stay off the internet otherwise it's a really lame excuse. I was only trying to live up to the spirit of TGR with a decent deal.

in other news, i hit 60 balls at the range and started all out of whack again but managed to straighten it out before i was done, then played 9 and did at least 1 good thing on each hole. my drives are getting a lot straighter and longer, my iron shots are straighter and higher and longer, i even successfully pitched over bunkers to the green on consecutive holes, which is something i've been struggling with (and continued to struggle with after those two holes). i still putt way to hard a lot of times, which makes me gunshy and then i leave others way too short. i'll be interested to play when i get home because i swear these are the fastest greens i've ever played on by a mile.

one thing that has been shocking to me is how empty the course is after 3pm or so. i play alone with nobody in site pretty much every afternoon.

I putt scientifically because naturally I suck. 1st a plumb bob because I can't see small right or left breaks. Then, while looking at the hole I take several practice strokes letting my brain judge how big a stroke. Then, with out hesitation, I look at the ball and keep the logo in focus and hit it with the same force as my practice stroke. On an uphill putt, I'll look at a spot past the hole and downhill pick a spot closer than the hole. Long putts, I aim for a 3 foot circle. I don't 3 putt often.

i wasn't questioning your integrity and i'm not paranoid.

it was SUCH a good deal that it made me a little uncomfortable. i signed off with my real name, you didn't. i was just asking for a little more information via conversation. considering i am apparently a polarizing poster on tgr who has been on the receiving end of at least my fair share of hostility, i was looking for some kind of response like "yeah, i can see you're a bit of an asshole, but i've got no problem with you."

if it had been the other way around i wouldn't have been the least bit surprised or offended by the questions i asked. i would have simply reassured you. that's all. a person's interpretation of the spirit of tgr really depends on his experience.

i'm sorry you took it so personally. i don't do business on message boards. this is something new for me as is being a dad, so i don't consider it a remotely lame excuse. i'm more than happy to be an idiot in everybody else's eyes if that's what it takes for me to feel comfortable giving you my name and my address. there are a lot of fucked up people out there and i've dealt with more than a few.

if you're still willing to sell, i would like to buy them. if you're that pissed off about it, and apparently you are since you chose to make this public, i'm sure i can find something else.

i hate to say it, but i don't know exactly how the plumb bob works. i've done what i think you're supposed to do and can see slight breaks, but i don't feel like i see them any better than i do just getting back far enough and low enough.

    i like this:

if you don't like it, put it on me ignore. in fact, you and skiballs and guroo can start another golf thread if you feel that strongly about it and everybody can migrate to that one and i'll be sitting in here asking stupid questions all by myself. besides, i don't recall you doing anything in this thread but bitching about me. i'm had plenty of informative interactions with plenty of other people. i'm not the one who made my interaction with 4matic public. given that, i'm glad i didn't share my information.

and fuck you skiballs, since i have to read your dimwitted quote. you're the one who started the constant negativity in this thread, not me. and i responded by putting you on ignore for everybody else's sake. so i guess since you had to bring your opinion of me in from threads that have nothing to do with golf and repeatedly be an asshole for no reason, that makes you a bigger detriment to this thread than i am.

Good fucking god. Are you guys done with this retard yet? "I don't want the good deal from a maggot. It made my poon queasy. I would rather buy vagina clubs from china eBay. That's safer right? What do you think? I want your opinions but not your clubs. Can I even give negative feedback on this site?" how did you reproduce. I feel so bad for that hooker.

Shit gets buried really quickly when you are posting 8 times per page...like I said, shut the fuck up for a bit.

    EDIT:
Oh, yeah...the post I wanted to make originally, before I got sidetracked reading shitty drama posts.

Drove our 280yd uphill par 4 today, had a 12 footer for eagle, and I fucking shorted it - you can't leave an eagle putt short...ever.

Hit 71% of fairways today, was 8 over thru 14 and the wheels came off...managed to play the last 4 12 over...party. Also, we were literally the only ones on the course...amazing.

I have heard that plumb bobbing has no real basis in physics. I haven't researched it, so maybe that info is bullshit, but I would expect more tour players to employ it if it worked.

And Spook, check out the Props thread re: members' reps. I think I even posted in there regarding 4matic after he sent me a bunch of books free of charge (of course, that would require you to also trust me a bit). At the least, it is added context.

Based on human deficiencies I'd say 40%. But on the course id say 5% or less. If hunter hold mah hans glasses aren't pulling double duty they aren't pulling their weight.

Spook wants to know which glasses are best for southern hemisphere exposure and child splooge cover up. They are on eBay for $2 right? And free shipping to 3rd world countries?

it's guys like you that give tgr a lot of its color, which is exactly why i wanted a little more context for 4matic. i haven't noticed him much in other threads so i had nothing to go on. he answered most of my questions, so i felt comfortable sharing a concern. there's a big difference between poking for peoples' ideas and sharing personal information with anonymous usernames. i'm surprised you can't see the difference.

and commonlaw, thanks for the idea. maybe i'll use it next time something like this comes up. he told me to check with hutash, but --surprise! hutash and i haven't had very positive interactions. i'm not suggesting that some of this isn't of my own doing. and for whatever reason, i probably would trust you. some people stand out by their demeanor and although you've ragged on me a few times, it hasn't been the typical cunt, douchebag, retard, your wife's a whore, etc. fare utilized by so many others. bobby seemed like a nice guy even before his offer.

i honestly don't see the problem with asking questions. i don't expect people to answer and i don't take it personally if nobody does. some people like talking about this kind of stuff. those of you who don't don't have to answer and you certainly don't have to be a dick for no reason. i've been friendly to everybody in here until a few of you started being assholes for reason. i posted some pics and try to keep some ideas flowing. i didn't have the sense that everybody in this thread is an accomplished golfer, so i didn't see anything wrong with talking shop.

in any case, i'm done with this bullshit. i said i'd do my best not to ask any more gear questions since that is apparently so offensive to some. i'm also done responding to cranked, skiballs and guroo. if you guys want to keep being dicks be my guest. 4matic, i'm sorry you took it so personally, but i didn't say a single negative thing about you or your offer. i merely shared a feeling and you decided it was worth getting pissed off ovrr and making it public, which in my opinion was completely unnecessary and uncalled for, soi guess you'll find a good home for your clubs.

i have bifocals and i have to keep remembering to bring the non-bifocal pair for when the sun sets because i can't see shit unless i turn my head down, which prevents me from keeping my chin up.

Whenever I get new ones, when I swing the ball appears to move. It takes about a week for my brain to straighten things out. Cool thing about golf. It's not how it's how many. Local pro told me that when I needed a 5 iron to birdie a 125 yd par 3 into a 45 mph wind.
