Did the driver go farther than the 3 wood? How far do you hit the 3 wood?

In choosing a driver, hit a few and buy what you like with the knowledge that it will preform perfectly for you...... until your first bad drive with it. Then it will spit in your face.

I'm using a G15 with Project X 5.5 shaft. Meh.. Not that happy with it. It's all about the shaft on the new drivers. If you liked the Taylor Made get that one.

I usually hit the three wood about 230 off the tee; probably 260-270 with the Taylor Made. There's a shop down the road a piece and I'd like to hit a bunch, but it's been too fucking hot. Diablo Octane anyone? Cheap-cheap through Callaway pre-owned (I'm not going to buy anything new that I'll likely thrown in a lake by the end of the summer).

230 / 270. Good. Just checking as most slow swingers ( you are not) hit it farther with a 3 wood. If you hit the Taylor Made and liked it, go there. I'm hitting a System 3000 that I found on the course and loving it. On sale now somewhere on the web for $17.22. Regular price- $25.00

I do not hit the driver 270.

You should go play in Colorado. I was playing with some Colorado guys here in SF and they were all hitting 220 and saying stuff like "I don't get it, I just have nothing off the tee today." Sea level, bros. Sea level. I am certainly guilty of this mistake in reverse, when I play in Tahoe it always takes me half the round to figure out I need to take a club less.

edit: PTD, that Octane is a good club, maybe not as forgiving as some. Not trying to pump Taylor Made's tires but that Burner (2009 and on) is great for the money, you can get used/demos for very cheap, like $60-75.

    I also play a 10.5 degree.

Yep. Which is also provides goofy results when they tee the ball up really high.

To give you some perspective, I hit my 3-iron around 210 - 215 on average and my driver 275 - 280 on average (low elevation, obviously much further in Tahoe or Colorado). So you should probably be hitting some of your drives at least 300.

Ive been playing a diablo octane tour black and the thing is a BOMBER. Absolutely crushes, and looks stealth. Pushed one out 330 the other day, no joke- minimal elevation/wind.

The gear whore in me just picked up a new Adams F11 with the Matrix shaft off ebay for <$100 today- pretty stoked on that.

Hit up Hyland Blue for a Summer Solstice nine last night. All the pictures came out grainy as fuck since it was just so cloudy out there. Finished at 8:57 in the sprinklers (again).

Shot a 45 (it's a 36) topping almost every tee shot but getting a crazy amount of run out of them. I was murdering the wedges sticking everything within 100 under 10-15 feet; only thing that saved the round. Even my buddy (who shot three over with a double on nine) was like "dude, who taught you to hit those things?"

M.O. is usually around 175-200 off the tee, a lay up to ~100, a wedge in (hopefully close enough for a good chance at par), then two putt for bogey. On shorter par fours, I can usually (sometimes) get up and down for par. If I can do all that consistently, I'm a happy camper.

Now that I obviously have the wedges dialed in, it's time to really work on the R7 and get that dialed in. I've never felt more potential in my game, just gotta get out there and put time in on the range.

Played the Snowmass Club the other day, was all over the place on the front nine. Irons were horrid. Then went to the back nine, was one over after 4 then blew up three 7s in a row... finished with my first birdie in years though, so that was nice. Stuck an 8 iron from 150 to 3 feet.

Trophy Lake Saturday and Gold Mountain Sunday. Snapped my driver in half last night to make sure that it doesn't taint my bag this weekend. Golf cart girls forthcoming.

ooh, I love Gold Mountain - played 2 years of Seattle U Albers School tournament there - they did a great job with the hand-operated scoreboards and everything. We played the Olympic course which I think was a US Amateur venue!?!

just had two hours of lessons, first hour on irons and driver, just my swing in general. i made amazing improvement in the space of half an hour. i'm almost shocked. they had me shorten my backswing during my first lesson a couple weeks ago, and i've been practicing that quite a bit. i couldn't get the same instructor today, and that turned out to be a good thing because the new guy explained things in a slightly different way that made all the difference.

anyway, probably my best day ever hitting the ball. i was crushing the ball with ease pretty consistently and straight. i slowed everything way down. after the lessons i played 3 pretty difficult holes went bogey bogey triple. even the triple i hit several good shots. had an 8 ft downhill putt for bogey though and just missed it. the greens are just so fast it rolled a mile past the hole and ended up three-putting

have all day tomorrow to myself so i'll probably practice and hour or more and play 18. plus, there's a big tourney going on at another course so this place is completely empty. we'll see if i can hold on to the improvement.

Yup, the Olympic is the Am course. Cascade is still fun but we are teeing up the Olympic. Looking forward to it.

i like everything about this forum except the cart girl thing. if you're going to post pics, then post pics, but you don't need to be obnoxious about calling her the ugliest cart girl you've ever seen. maybe instead of saving us the picture, save us the unnecessary disrespect and negativity.

well, i spared you the picture of last week- our cart GUY! Uglier than skiballs cart girl for sure!

But it was about 6pm, the temp dropped to barely 50, w/15mph wind and spitting rain. Asked him if he had any chips, said yeah, and a bottle of Jack. I hate Jack, but ordered a round of shots. Drank them, then he said wait, i have to give you more, special is a double jack/coke for $4. Oh, ok...
