I'm an ass man so you'd probably rather see her in panties and a tank.

I'd try to talk her into it on a late evening nine but, considering she's the most conservative girl-next-door type fuckin' ever, I won't even try.

Wouldn't be a bad sacrifice to Ullr though.

Got out to play yesterday and it was the worst round I have shot in years.

Couldn't make clean contact all day and when I did it would end up right behind a tree or something.
Quit scoring after about 12 holes, but was able to get 27 holes in after it was all said and done.
    Still a fun day out.
whatever I feel like i what to do!

yes, i speak spanish, lived here for two years, central america for another 6 months, married latina. i'm here on vacation so the inlaws can spend time with our baby and my wife can spend time with her family. the total cost so far has been $450 to join the club for 1 month and i can play all the golf i want. (thanks to a friend of my father in law. to join the club outright requires a pretty intense application + $20k +$450/month -- that said, it's pretty nice for this neck of the woods -- lots of elitist folks who want to be seen as elitists). $80 to rent the clubs for a month + $20/bag of 20 used balls. as noted, there are a lot of narrow fairways that are surrounded by ravines and very thick brush/trees/etc., so if you're not straight, you will lose a lot of balls. i'm on my second bag. lessons from the club pros are $15 for 45 minutes.

i have only played maybe 10 courses, but considering the topography, the altitude and the sun, it's the hardest course i've played. also lined by houses on some holes, which is never good for me.

Holy fuck, 450 for a month's worth of amazing golf. That's pretty outstanding.

I give him the driver, he hauls off and whacks one- big hitter, the Lama- long, into a ten-thousand foot crevice.

The key caveat is the 20K membership fee. I was going to say if it was only $450 per month I might go down there. It is good to have friends in high places. You must have a flexible career to be able to take 2 months off.

Played some father's day golf at Sonoma Golf Club with a buddy of mine who's a member there. Man, I love this course and miss being able to play it all the time. If it hadn't gone private it was on the USGA's list of potential US Open sites (I know this because I played it once with someone who worked for the USGA). Since then it's been the host of the Champion's Tour championship before it moved to Harding Park last year.

Anyway, chipped in for eagle on #2, a par 5, so naturally I didn't make a damn thing for the rest of the day.

Mrs. Cranked and I playing #12 @ Schaffer's Mill on Sunday. Finally working the swing plane out, leading to a 41 on my second nine (including 3 from the tee on the par 5 8th).

Quality belly putter on www.dealadaygolf.com today. Get 'em while they're legal!

Annoyingly, the guys who do dealtrackergolf.com have started slacking, so now I have to visit all these fucking DoD sites myself.

Thanks for adding another money siphon to my bookmarks SSD. And shouldn't it be "DaD?"

Anyone have some good recommendations for irons, wedges, 3 wood, driver? I have decided to just drop the necessary peso flow to completely revamp the bag. I know it is subjective and I will try a bunch of different stuff, but looking for anecdotal pros and cons for certain iron sets particularly. Folks with newer schwag, what are you playing with?

I have been playing with the same set for 10 years and have started to wonder what I am leaving behind by not upgrading. The rub is that I don't simply want the club that produces the best score. I want something with some feel and maybe some character (if that is at all possible or describable).

    Me:

    6'2-3, 200lb
Usually score in the low to mid 80's. Can break 80 here and there, but also toss a 90 on the card on off days.
If anything, I cast and get over the ball leading to more slices.
Can't hit a driver to save my life. Best rounds of my life, I left it in the bag and just hit a 3 iron 230 down the middle every hole.
Since I can't hit a driver, I stay away from 3 woods, so maybe a hybrid would be a good suggestion.
Currently have a 60, 56 high bounce and 54 in the bag (recos on changing that up?). Just buy the same in CG's? What other wedges are performing at the Cleveland level?
60 is for those Mickelson moments, 56 is usually for the trap and large fluffy grass around green, 54 I use as a gap wedge and around 100 +/- 10 yards into greens and chips that I roll more than a flight. Willing to consider a different set-up, but that range is comfortable for me,

Low to Mid 80's, but throw a 90 in there due to what? Do you have a big slice that gets worse occasionally? Do you just not play enough to always have your short game in check? Do you need forgiveness?

If you are shooting low 80's, I'd recommend at least trying something like what I have, the Titleist AP2's, or I also liked last years Taylor Made MC http://www.golfsmith.com/product/300...ping-_-xx-_-xx

If you need more forgiveness try almost anything from Callaway, or maybe even one of those progressive iron/hybrid sets from Adams.

Don't forget to pick up a 3 hybrid, 4 hybrid, and if you don't like your 5 iron, a 5 hybrid. Pick some woods that set up well for you. If they don't look right, you ain't gonna hit em right. Then try to get a little fancy with the shafts on the woods. Do a little research on Graffaloy.com to see if you can figure out which shafts you probably will like. It'll help, but don't go crazy on shafts. They can be an extra $30 for a club that already has the upgraded shafts on them, or you can drop $400 reshafting a club.

RE: Re-wedging, why do you have a 4* gap between 2 and a 2* gap next. This should be something that should be considered after you know what degree your pitching wedge in your new irons is. Then set up the rest of the wedges incrementally.

I have Titleist 15 degree 3 wood and 19, 21,and 24 degree hybrids. I love those clubs. The Titleist Hybrids require a bit more feel but they are superb in every way. Titleist graphite shafts run stiff so a regular is more like a stiff.

The one drawback to my AP2 irons I've found, is that I just sky the ball. I was having trouble hitting punch shots, which I try to hit fairly often, so I've made a little bit of a swing change trying to keep my right shoulder going through the ball. That keeps it significantly lower. But overall, I've never hit the ball this straight in my life.

I think DoD is the preferred e-commerce parlance. Also look at:

    caddiesbag.com
    3balls.com
    golfdealsandsteals.com

3balls, in particular, has tons of deals on floor model and demo clubs. I got some TaylorMade fairway woods from them for $40 each that were completely immaculate.

The Callaway Jaws wedges and some of the Nike wedges are supposed to be good. I've also seen some very positive reviews of the new Mizunos. I didn't like my Cleveland CG15s but love my (older, hand-me-down) CG10s. As for irons, they can feel so different from one another, you gotta go hit a bunch- but be sure to try some Mizunos. They just felt so much better to me than any other brand (I have the JPX 800 pros).

are there standard lofts for clubs? if so, what are they? i've googled a bit but am not getting anything specific.

if there are no standard lofts, how do tell what they are (without contacting the manufacturer)?

i'll be curious to see what happens after playing a month with better clubs when i go home to me shitty no-names.

+1 on Titleist AP2 irons. They're fantastic. I have no desire to get any other clubs, other than perhaps upgrading to the latest version of the same.

The 90 comes from the tee. Due to my size and my arguable athleticism, I should be hammering it off the tee. I just have a mental block as the club feels so much different than the others. Wondering if a shorter shaft would help out, as I can rock my 3 iron. That said, I think I want to shy from at the least the 4 and 5 hybrids. Never had a problem with long irons. Hell, I have an old 1 iron that I can hit well.

Short game is pretty solid, but I need a more repeatable putting stroke. Again, its just spraying into to rough off the tee.

I have that gap in my wedge lofts because the middle one is a high bounce that I love in the sand. So, less about loft differences and more about bounce, which I could easily remedy with a new club, so I am not married to the set-up. I just like having a big floppy 60, and wedge that I like for sand, and one for those longer shots that are short of a PW.

Thanks for the iron recos. I will make sure to keep my eye out for those when I go in to swing a bunch. Haven't shopped in so long that I really didn't know what to keep an eye on.

And damn you guys with these Deal sites.
