I was +1 coming to the 15th tee yesterday and then a goddamn freezing rain hurricane hit us. Doubled 15 and bogeyed 16 in the maelstrom before losing all feeling in my hands and giving up. I got Bishop Pickeringed.

    OH RAT FARTS!

Played almaden country club today in south San Jose in a steady 20 mph wind and shot 2 different rounds on the nines. 42,37 for my first round in the 70's this year, and wasn't using my clubs. Pretty happy. Playing cor de Valle tomorrow possibly. I like almaden better, but cor spares no expense. The owner writes off about $5 mil a year in losses just to keep it that way. Too bad they don't own the winery next to it clos le chance, which must mean, "there's a chance our wine taste like shit."

Been over in St Andrews this week and played Strathtyrum (beside the New Course) which is the best course I've played for under £10 quite comfortably, and another one down by Lundin Links. Half decent weekend in Fife!

Exactly what I have been eyeballing. I think I can still putt in a knee immobilizer. Just gotta make sure my boss doesn't see it! Which one do you have? I'm going to head to GolfSmith on Sunday and try out Putters.

Got out to Hyland Gold today with MadMike. Great time. Got a few pics of the course and cart girl.

Without futher ado, let's get to the stoke.

    Flag shot:

Didn't have any of these today but saw a lot of them:

    Par 3 8th:

Also spotted one of these. This one struck a particularly funky, late-80's pose:

I loved the feel of the Scotty I was hitting but was more consistent with the Odyssey (which has the same msrp but was $200 off).

Lousy 9 this morning but new putter worked pretty well.

Strong work Fritz and Mofo. Colorado might win because I have never seen so many hot cart girls as here or Vegas....you can get a model as a caddie there

Played corde Valle on Friday. It's really nice, but there are some pretty unfair greens, stupid holes, and aside from the impeccable conditioning I'd take almaden country club every time. Also, there are too many looong, uphill par 4's. It was pretty windy and there were two holes where I hit driver 3 wood and I still wasn't on the green. And I was only playing the blue tees.

I should have put this in first world problems probably.

Read Dave Pelz 3 books on the short game. You're welcome.

My short game discovery was that after reading up on and deciding on a technique, followed by lots of practice with chipping games, the only way success was transferred to the course was by turning off all of the parts of my brain except for the feel part.

I think the golf gods purposely placed the $24.95 msrp driver I discovered leaning against the ball washer. To my amazement, the driver I "found", a "320cc, 10.5*, titainium? with frequency matched shaft" is teamed up with my 10 y o "Hot Forged System 3000 Tour" irons. I got the custom fitted irons from Barracuda Golf, a local custom club maker and fitter, in a no cost to me trade for 12 dz custom Barracuda golf caps.

Castle Course is definitely next on my list over the next few weeks but purely because I can play for free over there. Kingsbarns has been on my list since I missed out on a hookup last year but couldn't justify paying so much for 18 holes.

It does help that they;re only an hour and a half from home!

castle course is stunning (and windy), but the greens are retarded. when i was there the course was new and they had all these mounds of grass in the middle of blind fairways so you could rail one right down the middle and get stuck in knee high grass. kingsbarns on the other hand is the best modern links i've ever played. i'm assuming you're a resident if you can play castle course for free? if so, kingsbarns is only 30 quid for residents unless things have changed.

looks like i'm going to get 3-4 days on a 9 hole nicklaus designed course on the coast in a couple weeks. as i understand it, the course is right next to the ocean.

Eh. Upper 80s. Not bad for me considering the speed and craziness of the greens. Nasty, nasty, shit!

It's a little hazy froom the fires, but there's been a slight breeze so not too bad.
