Tiger opens with a couple of birdies but gives one right back. Same story, different day.

Tiger will shoot low tomorrow, maybe a 65 or so. He has found a little something on the back and while not making birds, he isn't going backwards or spraying it all over the place anymore.

Jalapeno pepper buffalo chicken and cheese bacon wrapped poppers. Milk in a Marshall Hilltopper alum mug, to prop Hobey Baker winner Jack Connoly. To be washed down with Rush River IPA.

Not as dramatic as the full bag lake toss, but then again that is more a show of unmitigated rage. Lost it as a kid and pulled this maneuver. The old man made me fish it out and vowed to never buy me another golf related piece of equipment again. And he never did.

Phil is da troof with that shot/putt on 18. As for meltdowns, in my youth I flung a 2 iron at a tree one time (carrying a bloody 2 iron was my first mistake) and bent the shaft. I actually hit the bent 2 iron better than the straight 2 iron. Preloaded shaft lag? Sort of like rockered skis?

And trust me, unless you've spent time in the corporate counsel department for a company that is as large as one of America's biggest brokerage firms you do not know as much as me about management, governance and corporate responsibility. I'm not trying to be a dick waving idiot here, I'm just simply pointing out that you are wrong on the law when it comes to discrimination. No personal digs here pal, (unlike you) I'm just telling you that you're wrong, and the law is on Augusta's side. Touchy-feeley arguments hold no weight here.

Now, can we please stop thrunting up this thread? ...

    .
Sorry I took so long to respond. Was out skiing, etc…

Whether it is legal or not is not the crux of it. And I do not believe I said it was.

The issue is discrimination on the part of Augusta. Good old boy style discrimination. Basic bigotry. Exactly the kind that roughly 50 or 60 years ago was the norm with respect to race and ethnicity. They can no longer get away with that (despite a plethora of arguments about freedom of association and property rights). But somehow they think its is "OK" to discriminate against half the citizens of the USA. What cowardly, insecure crap. (and, just out of curiosity, I'd be interested in hearing from other informed people whether or not it is really a closed case about the public accommodation thing)

Most companies have certain "obligations", within the context of their fiduciary and broader legal obligations, to their shareholders, employees and customers. In general, all of those constituencies - and thus the companies themselves - are best served by said companies actively divorcing themselves from the kind of bigotry exemplified by Augusta. Many have non-discrimination policies that should simply and directly motivate them to do so. However, if pressure from customers or shareholders, or employees helps make that happen - I'm all for it. If it turns out along the way that the law can help that happen - I'm all for that. If that pressure ultimately takes the form of those companies walking away from anything PGA related until Augusta gets the message - that'd be fine too. In the end, if Augusta really is not violating the law and chooses to be some sort of antiquated ethical pariah, I guess that'd be their choice.

I take no offense at your appendage waving. But nothing you said makes me believe you are close to being on the map in a serious discussion of management and governance. Feel free to wave your flag harder...

As for "thrunting" up this thread, perhaps you should have thought about that before you opened the door to the topic. Happy to keep on it as long as you are.

I'm gonna go with Strick since he's got 10 years on the others. I think Donald and Westwood get one someday, not sure about Scott and Garcia has proven many times that he CANNOT win a major.

FIGJAM had it rollin' today, has to beat the mystery Swede though. Funny how it is fine if Donald and McIlroy aren't in it, but Tiger has a bad week... man that guy has set himself up for a win-or-else nothing life huh?
... jfost is really ignorant, he often just needs simple facts laid out for him...

Rooting for Kuchar. He was in the first group I followed at my first pro tourney. Bellsouth 2002. Pulled his drive way into the pine straw almost 200 out, and put it in tight. And he's a GTech alum, bet he plays Augusta a fair bit.

Wow, I thought I was a hothead on the course. You win the Steve "Volcano" Pate Award.

Judging by your handle, you are probably down for some legal dorkery. Alas, we are screwed by the USGA Rules of Golf Sec. 4-2:

"Section 4-2 describes golf shafts and their attachment to the clubhead. It states that the shaft must be at least 18 inches in length and must be straight from the top of the grip to a point not more than 5 inches above the sole as measured along the axis of the shaft and the neck. In other words, shafts with curves anywhere but very near the hosel will be deemed non-conforming. The original Ping irons from the late 1960’s featured shafts that were curved underneath the grip. Karsten felt the curved shafts helped to position the golfer’s hands more in line with the center of gravity of the clubhead. When the USGA ruled these shafts were non-conforming, Karsten agreed to replace the curved shafts with straight ones, making these original curved shaft models collector's dreams. Their current retail market value is over $25,000.00! By the way, there is no limit as to how long a club can be – at least yet – but the USGA is talking about it though!"

    Holy fuck.

Might never see a double eagle on 2 ever again. That was one of the best golf shots I've ever fucking seen! Unreal.

Wow. That couldn't have been more perfect. Half a roll less and it wouldn't have dropped. I'm a new golfer/watcher, I doubt I'll ever see a better shot. That was fun.

Phil was dumb not to go back to the tee. Gotta use unplayables to your advantage.

No - but you can certainly make it harder for yourself - see Tye's comment. He goes back to the Tee and makes bogey - saves himself 2 shots.
