funneh. When I eat too many cheese blintzes and get gigantic fat and have a heart attack or stroke out and have to be air lifted to billings for heart or brain surgery no one picks up my cost.

Unfortunately even if the resort implements policy that rewards smart skiers and requires personal responsibility, we have a legal system full of sue happy lawyers prepared to ruin the hill financially for the sake of one dumbass.

Yes, but if you can pay they will get the money from you. If you are in the BC, they don't ask if you can pay. It's just paid for. In NH a while back there was an incident where a kid was stupid and got lost out on mt. wash overnight and had a huge rescue team looking for him with helos and the whole 9 yards. He kept moving around and took forever to find but when he got home they sent him a huge bill. Obviously you can't say some people deserve to pay and some don't, but I do think there should be some situation in place to make the people who get rescued in some way responsible. There seems to be this belief, especially sidecountry places like this, that patrol/rescuers will come get you if you get hurt so it doesn't much matter. I heard someone in the tram line the other day say they knew Lone Lake Cirque was dangerous but it was ok because if anything happened Patrol would come get them...

And that is true, we will close terrain, drop everything we are doing and risk our asses to go and get some dumbshit who ignored the GNAFC advisories and got messed up.

Woo hoo! I skied (like a complete gaper) today, which is kind of monumental considering it's my third real (half) ski day in two months. Felt pretty damn good at the time but who knows what tommorow brings. Just grateful for each precious day I can get down the hill without crippling pain! Bronco was skiing so awesome, a field of moguls never looked so beautiful to me. Amazing how much better it skis over there with the new lift.

Great to see so many regulars rippin and stoked. Thanks to all who are lookin out for me and wishing me well, it means alot. Vibes and respect to all who are willing to risk life and limb for us dirtbags and scoundrels!

i posted about coming to bozeman a few weeks ago here and elsewhere around tgr. I am hitting bridger tomorrow and my friend cant join so if any one is around tomorrow and doesnt mind if I join it would be great. id love to see the ridge a bit..i take directions well (like follow my lead or dont ski to the left, etc) and dont want to cause that type of shit like up on saddle peak over the weekend so no need to worry about me doing stupid stuff. i was up down at big sky today but due to the weather only able to score one run off the tram.. top was shit with the awful blowing but the gullies were pretty sweet. ill be up there around opening and rent a transceiver ..

i was up there flippin our vrbo, skied for awhile after-best softest coverage of the season so far, lotsa nooks and crannys holdin the goods w another six/eight(!!) today shld be outfuckingstanding skiing once again...

Yeah, sorry no one offered to show you around dude. I would make a pretty lame tour guide for a traveler right now, not really able to hike much or ski the gnar. I hope SOMEONE up there showed you the goods. Yesterday was a good day. Creamy three inch blue bird pow morning with no crowds, can't beat that.

The Bridger Range:

Over the past few weeks the Bridger Range has gone from worst to first in terms of snowfall. A favorable northwest flow has provided consistent moisture which has produced respectable snowfall amounts. Over the past 24 hours close to a foot and a half of low density snow has been recorded at the top of the Bridger Lift. This latest round of snow has been accompanied by strong west/northwest winds, which has easily transported the new snow onto leeward slopes.

Today’s primary avalanche concern for the Bridger Range will be any slope that has received a wind load. Although freshly formed wind slabs will be most pronounced along exposed ridgelines, drifts of windblown snow will also be common on the lee side of mid elevation sub-ridges. With more snow and wind forecasted through today, natural avalanches will be likely and human triggered avalanches will be very likely on all wind loaded slopes.

A secondary concern for the Bridger Range will be avalanches failing on faceted layers buried deeper in the pack. Slides initiating within the storm snow and stepping down will be the most likely cause for this type of event. Although the chances of a slide stepping down are becoming less over time, any slide that does step down will likely produce a large and unmanageable avalanche.

Today, the avalanche danger is rated HIGH on all wind loaded slopes and slopes steeper than 35 degrees. Less steep, non wind loaded slopes have a CONSIDERABLE avalanche danger.
