See, this is what makes Alta retarded. In surfing, there's a very specific line-up in most cases where you need to drop in, and time that with the right wave. Alta is on the side of a big fucking mountain where there are infinite lines to take, so a few people getting ahead of you is hardly the same thing. Of course, they probably wouldn't understand this.

Alta is basically like a surf break with heavy localism. They are plenty on "quasi rules" that are just the way it is. Just like surfing, you've got a choice...do it their way...or deal with their consequences. In this case the consequences were that Luffski caved like a little bitch. These rules are stupid in surfing and there are stupid in skiing. But what are you gonna do a. follow the herd b. ignore the herd, tell the herd they suck and do it your way c. go somewhere else.

the fucking job is awesome because as a guest relationship expert i holler and direct folks not listening to or following the proper protocol. if a guest doesn't wantto take a pack off i let em know, when singles don't partner up on busy days i let em know, when they get sloppy and try to play mean with each other this lift line manager is at the ready to quell the agro, but yet i am always on the ready to load. your clogging the off ramp, well expect to be called out because the job is very fluid and a good GRE(guest relationship expert) is ready to confront trouble anytime the hill needs one.

So, it has been suggested that I reconcile with ski-McStomper-enforcer dude. Apparently on non-powder days he's a pretty decent guy and long term canyon employee. Guess he has been going through some huge stress in his life lately.

I'm leaning toward setting the ski karma balance back on it's axis and squashing this silly internet beef.

There are people that go through their lives inventing all sorts of shitty stupid pointless rules for the rest of us to live by. Some people find it fulfilling to try and fit in, and to expect other people to fit in, even in ways that do not fucking matter at all. Yes alta is filled with the kind of people that enjoy creating an atmosphere of unwritten rules to govern behavior. These people like created impractical unneeded rules because it gives them a sense of (herd) community with the other sheeple. Even having never surfed, the rules (and reasons for those rules) of surfing always seemed pretty self evident and logical to me. Well, except people confronting others just for having the gall to be at a certain beach at all.

Assault is usually not justified by line cutting. I don't want the guy to lose his job over it, but he took it way too far. A simple don't cut, and then heads up to the operator probably would have resulted in Luff going to the back of the line, or him finding out about the secret line and doubling his number of runs.

At Stevens Pass, the Big Chief (double chair) line has three parts that run parallel to each other. For some reason everyone and their mom usually lines up in the two up hill lines, and the third line has no one in it.

I also pass plenty of people on the right as they form a conga line in the left lane on the way up the mountain.
