Technically, you can legally fly over wilderness and you can land anywhere in an emergency. Launching in a wilderness area is illegal.

SFB do you know if the people in the car by storm were killed? I was headed up the canyon for a moonlight tour and got caught behind it. That car was effed up to say the least.

Hey guys, just need some quick help.

Headed out with a 6 person crew later this month and wanted to ask about lift served turns. Aside from Canyon sports, Costco, Liftpoia and that silly Super Pass, is there anything other means of obtaining discounted lift tickets im not already aware of?

Costco seems like the best deal for the Bird, Canyons and PC but is there anything better for Alta, Soli or Brighton?

Thanks for letting me know, really do appreciate any help i can get.

Second that. The Duck and Cover shop at 9th west and North Temple has discounted Alta/Bird tickets. Fairly close to the airport too.

Shopwise no, valley ski shops are the best deal. You might want to check craigslist though, lot of people dumping tickets from 10 packs etc. Also you get a lot of.people visiting who still have a day left on a # of # days left type pass who simply don't want to use it. Those are usually either evening prior to day of type deals where they need to unload it fast.

Surface hoar and near surface faceting running amuck on wind sheltered N end of the compass. Skied the flank of the slide on Reynolds NE facing for a safety net just incase. No instabilities noted except for the still overall shitty structure of the snowpack, still not trusting anything that is steep with a slab over facets.

Gonna try and make Thursday night at least to catch up with some old (literally) friends and heckle (aka ask questions) from the back

I'll probably be at the talk Thursday night, signed up for the on-snow portion so I'll definitely be there with the girlfriend.

Just saw the UAC posted up the accident report from this weekend.

Thanks marcg! I was finding those deals on craigslist too but to your point, there really day off or day before (but will search there again once i touch down). I think the other options i listed in my original post are the best bet but always willing to try and score other deals.

    A good reminder:

They stated that there were some problems with cell phone interference and turned off their cell phones.

Definitely. One thing I've wondered though is if it would be ok to put the cell in airplane mode? In terms of making an emergency call it can take a minute or two for my phone to boot up from being completely off, whereas I can throw it from airplane mode to normal and have a call out in about 15 seconds. Given how precious time is in a rescue situation the extra minute or so could come in handy.

I'd say your best time spent would be participating in the rescue right there, not worrying about getting a 911 out. The extra minute or so matters to the person who is buried. If it were me, I'd want you searching and shoveling your ass off so I could breath.

So I realized too late that the link on our home page is not quite right. We have Alta, Snowbird, and Brian Head tickets also. Go here to see them.

Re: phones: We normally leave our phones in airplane mode to eliminate the chance of interference and save bats. That way they are still live for photos, angle measurements, etc. It is my understanding that they don't do any signal xmission in airplane.

First thing I thought was that someone was out there just before us and grabbed these same photos.
Facepalm finished, I realized it was my bud SV. Heh!
Pics came out okay, my hand did eventually warm up, and I slept like a rock. At least until four.
No core shots were had, and Sailor Jerry joined us at the summit. Was a good night, and so far the best skiing I have grabbed this season.
Thanks for the night out SV!

If find it pretty humorous that about 80% of the posts on this thread have nothing to do with the Wasatch conditions, yet the only ones that get people up in arms are the ones where someone (gasp) asks about a resort.

    Stay core, brah.
