I'm on weekend warrior status accompanied by a late start. Some sillyfork and big springs footy for ya, along w proper skin track etiquette tutorial and a burning sun. Recent observations... big springs is no bueno ice rink & possibly heard a natural off of cascade last weekend. Good to get the legs moving again.

Looks good for Saturday night / Sunday / Monday. Yesteray's UAC forecast did not indicate anything much but they must be thinking it is going to be significant as they are updating their forecast at noon.

2 people that have done AWESOME with their weather predictions in the past...they are seeing it a bit differently than NWS is. Still a decent dump to be had, just some people are thinking NWS is overforecasting this one. Lets hope the weather junkies are wrong and NWS is right.

It was busy out there yesterday in the central Wasatch. Sleds, skiers, and multiple WPG ships flying around. As others noted wet activity went off yesterday mid day. Sleds highmarking Holy Toledo...

Dont get me wrong...with the numbers the "amateur" forecasters are calling for its going to be a great couple days for sure..and if nws pans out...then we'll call it EPIC especially for this season..though ill bet the backcountry goes back to "sketch" really quick either way.

    pray for higher amounts..thats all

On the bright side the storm starting out of the S'West then switching around as the cold front passes should put it down right side up.

    Hi, Brad again,
Change of plans. UDOT will do avalanche control during the day on February 19, 2012 in the mid-canyon area of Little Cottonwood Canyon. A terrain closure is in effect for areas north of the canyon road between Gate B and Gate D from 5:00 am until 3:00 pm. The terrain from the south ridge of Superior to the east is open. To the west of Superior is closed.
    Thanks,
    Brad

New snow was a little loose in Upper Days today. First pic skier triggered soft slab in the gully skiers right of Two Dogs, second pic soft slab I released in Two Dogs, new snow only, not bonding well to the faceted bed surface, and not packing much of a punch.

NE facing mini-golf off of twin lakes skied really well today. Didn't feel the need to dig to the ground any more today, but the new-old interface was reassuring in scattered hand pits. All-in-all, a surprisingly great day s/p air-ball forecast.

EDIT: would be super-stoked on some griz/twin lakes dawn patrol if anyone's interested - hoping to drop down to brighton around 9-10 ish

Oh boy, looks like we got another rime ice layer in the mix. At least the wind brought unexpected goodness to the trees and other north facing areas. Be safe.
