Valeos are solid, ice. I got close to 3 years (2 in Utah) out of my driver side, and still have the same passenger side wiper I bought like 5 years ago. It wipes for shit, but still works better than most year-old wipers, and I don't really give a shit how well my passengers can see out during a rain storm.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

the single springy blade like the bosch icon are the best i have used, I think they come with differnt brand names made by other suppliers and I usually get them at canuck tire

if you are just buying refils don't get the plastic backed refils because they get stiff in the cold and don't follow the windsheild properly ... metal backed refils only

some cars use different sized wipers for the driver/passenger side, but when both are the same what I do is put a new blade on the driver side every year and move the blade I took off over to the passenger side SO the driver gets a new blade every year and the passenger gets a 1yr old blade every year

I used to average a couple of doz rock chips a year up here up here windsheilds might last from road sweeping in may to 1st snow in october

Bosch is good PIAA is better.

The secret to making any blade last longer is to keep your windshield clean and apply wax regularly. (or RainX, but be careful with that shit not to get it on the paint.)

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

I bought a set of Goodyear Assurance wiper blades when they were on sale at Costco a couple months ago. So far they seem great and much better than the Rain-X ones I had on before. The design seems to keep them in uniform contact with the windshield better than the traditional designs do.

This stuff is fantastic. Now, I'm sure people will chime in and ask, "Why the fuck would I Rain-x my windshield in the winter time?" Not only does it reduce what sticks to you windshield, the ice and snow melt and bead up faster. Brilliant stuff, really.

I agree that Rain X suck ballz. Jim Rome really let me down on that one.

I also agree that the best route is to get cheapos and replace them often.

Coincidentally just bought Bosch's online for like $5 each. Bet they charge more for wipers that fit fancy cars than they do for older Subarus, though.

Wiper TR to come in May.

I've had Bosch's for about 8 months of driving time, primarily summer, and they already seem to be streaking a little bit. Annoying...especially with the winter weather. Everyone that's recommending Bosch: how long do they usually last you?

If the air is polluted where you live the or maybe high heat in the summer could affect the rubber, when I drive a lot I replace the driver side once a yr, don't scrimp on yer rubber products the snow tires , the wipers, the condoms ... because there could be lives at stake

Mine last a year. But it doesn't rain here in the summer so they don't really get used much then.

Try running the windshield washer thingy at the gas station along your blades. I find that cleaning the blades helps reduce streaking pretty well.

I just bought these a couple weeks ago and can vouch for them. There is no streaking, are silent, don't hop or chatter across the windshield ever, and scrape off the morning's frost/ice/snow like a bandit. Great wipers!

you know that using your wipers as a windshield scraper fucks them up faster?

Ya when its cold I also abuse my wipers but ... I try not to

This was my experience too. Not only streaking but "smearing" or failure to leave the glass clear.

If you can't stomach the price of the PIAAs, get the Aveos. Darned near as good and last a good, long time.

I ONLY use them in the winter, so I get about 2 years (winter seasons) out of them. Take them off in the summer and store them so the UV/dust/bird shit doesn't degrade them. Sounds like the PIAA's are even better, I would take them off in the summer too...

I'm on my 3rd set of Bosch Icons. They usually last me a year. I've been really happy with them so far. That said, I'm tempted to try the Valeos or PIAAs.

+1. All new blades seem like they're the shit because they're new, and all old blades seem like they suck because they're old. Get the cheapest ones you can find and replace them whenever they start to streak.

Also +1 for RainX and cleaning your blades whenever you clean your windshield.

While this may be true, when you're driving in heavy snow and the shitty blades you've got on are getting clogged up so bad you can't see so you have to stop every couple of minutes to get out and clean the windshield by hand...you'll wish you'd spent the extra $$$ for good blades.

I find all commercially manufactured wiper blades to be substandard. I prefer to construct my own by fastening wolf paws to the end of elk antlers.

Im pretty sure youre being a baby as Ive never had to stop every couple minutes for this problem, and Ive lived in snow country my entire life.

Never paid more than ANCO 5 or 6 buck a wiper prices. They last a year then I replace. You guys are fools for spending anything more.
