The most obvious guestion about avalanche transceivers

So, which one is the best and why? ...thinking of buying a new one, and I've been considering between Arva Link, Ortovox S1 and Barryvox Pulse. So any experiences in real life situation? Has anyone used all of them? What's good and what's [your f-word here]?

The one in the hands of someone who knows how to use one most efficiently.

Personally, the Barryvox Pulse is excellent for my needs. I don't like the Tracker because I have a little color blindness and cannot read that style of display very easily when the distance is rapidly changing. Absolutely worthless for me, others have no problem. The Barryvox has excellent range, stable circuitry, can point backwards, super easy to read display and it's smaller. If I were buying one this fall I would be tempted to save a few bucks and get the Barryvox Element since I don't think the "pulse" feature is much of an added benefit.

But most important of all is to know what you're doing.

IMHO all the latest beacons work pretty well and the most important difference between them is the user interface. So get the one with the user interface that YOU are most comfortable with.

I've used mostly Ortovox S1 and Mammut Pulse Barryvox, and a bit less a few others. Both S1 and Pulse Barryvox are in my opinion good. This being said I think that S1 is more straightforward and easier to use... that's the reason why I purchased S1 some time ago. I think that in S1 the testing the other transceivers before the trip, multiple burials search and the search overall works in a bomb proof manner and fast, i.e. slightly better than in Pulse Barryvox. At the time I also red plenty of test results, majority of which said that S1 was the fastest one to find. This being said the situation might have changed a bit, because I think that Barryvox has gone through at least one or two software upgrades.

What comes to Arva Link then it's pretty interesting too, if I recall right it can exchange the victim data in case several searches have the same transceiver, thus making the search faster. I haven't tried it in practice though.

Yup. Firmware V.3 has made the Barryvox Pulse significantly faster than previous firmware versions. I'm sure the new Barryvox Element will incorporate these improvements and be a real contender in the less expensive units when it is available this fall.

gotta be one with multiple burial at this point. Used and practiced with a lot of different beacons this spring and found the pieps to be basically as fast as the tracker2. Tracker2 was very fast and noticeably more accurate than the DTS. Especially an older DTS or one with battery levels under 90 percent.

Pieps has the multiple burial feature and works most of the time first try, but even this feature takes practice so you know what to do if it won't flag right away...Haven't used an S1 or the Arva, but for me if you are buying a new beacon right now the pieps is the call....

As we have all noticed, there can be $200 difference between some bacons. this must be tasty to some weekend wendy's warriors. but who would trust a weekend warrior in a multiple search senarior at the best of times, coz really, how much time does 99% of us spend on tranny practise.
My old barravox came up with E3 on the screen last season so I gave it the flick and kept it for training. I thougth about sending it in for refix-wotever, but I work in road transport, and I see how poorly freight is treated and this little jigger is to save my life and yours, so I replaced it.(it had 400+ long days on it) Well, I borrowed one for the rest of the season, peips and It was fine, but It didn't like the harnes as a snowboarder. the pulse or S1 are in my sights.
will any one mind if I buy the cheapest shovel probe and tranny, I mean really, wotz the chances I'm going to have to dig you out? you make good choises right?
