This is true. I find that BS needs to be consistently reporting at least 70-80 inches to be skiing well. Less than that and you are just constantly hitting rocks. That said, when BS has snow, I don't think there is another mountain in the lower 48 that rivals it terrain wise.

I did find some nice steep skiing off Challenger yesterday, and didn't hit rocks. Imagine that. Pretty fun day actually.

You must have been in the wrong place. I was there too and skied knee deep pow until 3 (at which point my legs stopped working). It was definitely cold though.

    Friday-Sunday weren't bad either.

I was riding swifty and I was told that the only other lift operating was ramcharger. Temps took a lot of joy out of the day.

    Today did not suck...at all.

Bridger was spinning nice smooth all day long. And they didn't open Slushman's (unless they did right after I took off to get to class), so you weekend folk will get first crack at it.

Today definitely did not suck. Awesome day for my first Bridger day of the year. I don't think Schlasmans ran. Should be excellent tomorrow.

Sitting in SEA-TAC, hours to go
Can't wait to get back, travelling woe
Bridger's been dumped on, of course when I leave
Stoked to read SNOTELs, chillin at Gate C

Flew out to see NAVSEA, the torpedo yard
Had a few interviews, nothin too hard
I had the right answers for Walt in Division 23
He called me up later, said he's got a job for me

So I went out for seafood in celebration
Wound up at the bar, sea-side inebreation
Hung over ferry ride, sea mist on my face
Pondering making a home of this place

The mountains are rad here, Ranier's fuckin huge
And the monstrous Cascades make me want to splooge
But today back to Bridger, must go shred that shit
And finish out my 21st season, maybe my last... for a bit

love it Norseman, I'm in a similar spot, but I'm not nearly as poetic. I took 12/10 - 12/22 off to start the season right, try to use up some vacation (got ~240 hours right now) and hit opening day. I got out all three days over thanksgiving, but a co-worker quit (for a job with a recruiter who contacted me first) and i was sent to Connecticut for a week. Then i ended up stretching it out to visit my parents, so now i'm sitting in their house in the adirondaks watching the 'cats on the net and wishing i was skiing.

ah well, be back soon, and i still got the 10th - 22nd off. gonna be a hell of a season.

Getting a little uppity, aren't we?

IMO, Saturday was as good as it gets for being sloppy seconds and all.

So who did I accost about his homemade skis ("like a skinnier S7") on the ridge on my way out to boundary chute?

And also, who the fuck skied Job 3 on Saturday?

^^^ I didn't notice any markings. They had a dark cherry woodgrain topsheet, and were mounted with dynafits.
