Its been blowing like mad here in the lakes the last couple of days and as a result some of the biggest waves I've seen in my 20+ years of living here on and have have been pounding the Eastern shore of Lake Michigan. Thankfully the harbor here in Muskegon offers a little shelter from the relentless swells, but with all this wind things have still been largely un-organized. A couple of the guys I talked to today said it was a lot better yesterday (figures), but I was in class all day and didn't get a chance to get down to the beach and snap some shots. That being said, the photos you are about to see represent fairly typical fall conditions here in the lakes; but I've also seen this same spot fire beautiful head-high+ peelers on a big NW blow too. Its always a gamble here. My hat is off to those that are core enough to get after it in conditions like this.
Its been a little windy 'round these parts lately.
bombs like this have been pounding the harbor arms for the past 48hrs.
This guy scored a clean face.
Another wave...too bad it closed out on him so soon
This kid was absolutely CRUSHING it today....I wish I had more pics of his best rides. Seriously some of the sickest shortboarding I've seen happen around here in my 10 years of surfing/shooting the lakes.
He actually sent this one airborne, but my camera stopped shooting to process the previous images....fuckin' thing.
I really wish I had a 500mm lens today and an armored bunker to shoot from.![]()
