BMA is almost entirely volunteer driven, and there hasn't been "lots of activity on their page", they have made one -- count 'em, one -- post since you posed your question. Moreover, as a BMA member (you are a member, right) and a facebook fan, you should know that the Sufferfest was this weekend. So they were a little busy, cut them some slack.

And as I understand it, BMA was (and is?) a fundraiser for the bike park, and is not directly involved with the park's construction.

I do realize the Sufferfest was this weekend, but this is not the first time I've posed this question without response so pardon my hastiness on this.

If they are not the authority to convey this information, then it would be easy for them to say that, no?

You are right though, BMA has only made one post. I went to their homepage and just glanced and saw 4 or 5 new entries on their page, not realizing most of those were by other people.

So let me then correct myself and say "there has been activity" on their page but no response yet.

the best info I have seen is here: http://bikevalmont.blogspot.com/ the may and march blog posts. But I don't know how construction has been going, obv.

Those posts mention "Fall opening", which I think we can agree probably isn't realistic given its Mid-Sept now. Would be sweet if it was though. I'd settle even for another CX race so I could get a preview of it.

I'm quite excited for this park to open, would love to volunteer time and potentially more money to see it happen in the near future. I just am trying to get some expectation on when it is tentatively planned, just no one that I believe is qualified to tell me has even said "we don't know" which frustrates me.

Well I did get a response from someone in the know. Quite tight lipped on the matter, said that was by design for a reason I won't spread.

    I'll drop the matter now.

The irony of you being pissed that they were hiding something from you, then you find out the answer and hide it from us!

    Well let me clarify...
I didn't really find anything out. I was told they are purposely being quiet about it. Also, the person that I finally tracked down is not affiliated with BMA as far as I know, just happens to be someone I expected would know something. This person was quite adamant that what they did know they couldn't tell me (for untold reasons).

The only tidbit of information I got was that the contract with the construction company is over in February 2011. I also got an off the cuff response that it doesn't appear there is anyway it will be ready to go by the end of this year, way too much left to be done.

So going by the small pieces of information I've received and jumping to massive conclusions from that, I deem the park to open in late March 2011.

In the interest of fairness, I have had two BMA representatives contact me about this in the last 24 hours. BMA is currently working with all the parties involved to try to get some information about the park out to the public.

Made sure to swing by the park earlier in the week, I was amazed at the size. The sketch-ups are impressive but in person it was quite eye-opening. In the meantime, rather than sitting back and waiting for others to respond while busily trying to complete something we will all benefit from, consider THIS during the upcoming weekend.

BMA is doing grass seeding at Valmont this Saturday. You need to sign up through their website. Work until noon and get a tour of the park after with lunch

That wooden log boner thing is pretty cool. Pretty sweet that they set aside so much land for bikes.

That looks like fun, if I wasn't so likely to hurt myself on it.

I have actually toyed with the idea of buying a DJ bike for it, but I think I'll see what kind of fun I can have on the 303 first.

The BMA Gurlz ride is out previewing it right now. There was a group that checked it out on Tuesday. Keep your eyes peeled on the BMA website and they may post more preview rides.

Is this the super secret location of SSUSA '11? Gonna be hard to clear those gaps at walking speed.

I'll be at the opening under the BCSM tent. For those who do not know me, say hi to the gimp on crutches. (Although I got the go-ahead for indoor riding today).
