Vibes indeed. Sounds like they're taking it slow, but that's a good thing -- it means they think it's worth taking slow.

Tell you one thing -- that's a partner I'd want with me. Caught in a slide, manages to grab onto a tree, then hauls ass down to find his partner and -- no matter how tired his arms are from holding the tree as the mountain slides under him -- digs him out in 10 minutes. I wish I were confident I'd be able to do the same. But if Wolly makes it, he knows who to thank.

What pulseless rhythm other than PEA is non-shockable? I'm pretty sure he would have been in asystole due to hypoxia.

That's a long time with out good bloodflow to the brain, vibes to this guy. Even the best CPR is only about 33% effective, fortunately the brain is close.

A good teachable moment here, remember, harder and faster than you think. If you feel the ribs and sternum crack and pop you're probably deep enough.

The AED system I am familiar with will only shock VT or VF, which technically could be considered no pulse. Brachycardia, asystole, and PEA are all non-shockable.

Yeah, I get it, and v-fib is always no pulse, v-tach can be pulse less or with pulse (perfusing or not). My point was PEA is pretty much the only pulse less rhythm not shocked (cause asystole isn't a rhythm). Sorry, not trying to cunt this up. Vibes.

And here's to hoping that peeps heed this and exhibit due caution in the side and back country. Some of these deep snow instabilities are going to be around for a good while.

Wow, sad news, sorry to lose another good one doing his job. Hope he's already riding steep and deep lines with Shane.

I don't believe it has been mentioned that Big Wally never stopped doing his best for the rest of us. Even in death . . .

. . . Big Wally was a an organ donor.

^^^^^That is awesome. I hope more good can come of this tragedy. Possibly through the reevaluation of safety procedures, or at least an increased awareness, or appreciation, of the dangers associated with the job of patrolling.

Love to the family and friends

Outstanding, but not a total surprise. I'm sure that he was that type of guy.

My daughter is alive because of a person like Big Wally. Vibes to his family at this difficult time.
Live each day like it's your last, because it could be.
