maybe he was trying to save everything for himself?

well unless off course he was in jeans

I skied today at Taos during Texas' and Oklahoma's spring break. I don't know where to start. The guy in the cow suit (with udders) left me speechless.

In the lift line at the cinch express at beaver creek I was asked the following from a guy rocking jeans riding skis well shorter than my snowboard.

"Are you from out of town?"

I'd take that as a compliment.

After crashing at the exit while pond skimming and having the board whack her in the back of the head leaving a bloody gash, said boarder remarked "First time I've been on a board in over 10 years."

By a very bitter man to his wife who was wearing matching skis adn boots, and sported almost as much gaper gap as he, on a nice powder day at Ski bowl; "Vail is better in so many ways. THEY would never let it get this crowded on a busy holiday weekend" through his clenched teeth.
    Living vicariously through myself.

A few mornings ago, while riding up the gondola, a dorky looking rich teenager says to his friend "The powder today isn't messing you up too much I hope." I chuckled until I realized that he was serious! It was bullet-proof frozen spring slush conditions and it hadn't snowed in over a week.

stevens pass sunday, working on about 22'' of reported snow in the last 24 hrs. "this snow sucks, all I want to do is ski park." this after shredding waist+ deep all day. some people's priorities blow my mind... park is fun, but shit, we're talking biggest storm of the year.

Well... similar but not exactly... but here it goes:

Staring at the Flatirons outside Boulder, CO with some girl's parents, who are visiting from Texas.

They thought the mountains were too magnificent, so they must've been man-made.

I commented that they were right and that if you looked carefully, you could see the scaffolding the workers use to repair the mountains at night!

The texans thought that made a lot of sense. Hahaha.

And Gapers = tourons (tourist + moron) or

S.P.O.R.E. = stupid person on rental equipment

S.T.O.R.E. = stupid Texan on rental equipment

Ski Bowl 2 weeks ago when they had 5 feet in 4 days. Walk into ye olde ticket shoppe and say "Wow you guys have tons of snow, eh?"

    Ticket girl: Yeah, so much!

We both smile knowingly. but apparently with different knowings.

"...So you might want to come back in a few days once everything's been groomed and conditions are better".

Needless to say, with all the customers being turned around "until conditions improve", it was epic! tank u ticket grrl!

From some muppet on an expat forum in Switzerland...

    3) Backpack: Would have had to sacrifice: While passaging the vertical area, was standing so erect on the board that 3 eggs placed betw. my chest and wall would have withstood pressure of body. (No handhold) Backpack with shovel + snowshoes + water would have impeded fine balancing (pulled toward abyss ).
He was SO EXTREME that wearing a backpack with shovel and probe would have been suicidaly dangerous.

    5) Avalanche beeper. Generally yes, not there, avalanche risk was 0 for this section of the mountain.
Avy danger was 3, which suprisingly enough also means considerable in Switzerland, not zero avalanche risk except on the nursery slopes.

Please resist the temptation to post to that forum. They are very soft and sensitive there and the mods and general community would be very easily upset by the level of diplomacy and gentleness typical of TGR

Oh, she knew the same as you. She's stuck in the ticket window and is hoping that SOME of that snow is saved for her...

    Patroller says: : Yes.
Guy says: Is it the groomed kind?

Not a quote but funny regardless...

Was takin a leak today when a guy in jeans walks into the bathroom carrying his skis. Not only did he bring them into the bathroom but all the way into the stall. I guess he was really concerned about someone swiping his Salomon X Screams
