went up to kessler today with thoughts of skiing the west couloir.

zzz either getting ready to hurl last nights dinner or bitching about the sidesteps in the skintrack.

got to the top of kessler and decided the east couloir looked good to go.

snow was crusty/variable up high but got creamier the lower you got. minor sluffing in the gut. after a short skin we found what we were really looking for. about 12" of med density tree shots down into cardiff.

    under the radar

    3z

down low got a little crusty underneath depending what aspect you were on but still fun nonetheless.

For reals? And you call yourself a skier? Better check with the doc and get those loose screws tightened. The rule is unwritten but should be followed - you have to ski from the top of any peak you can see from where you live. Get out there son and get skinning.

Powstash, you are absolutely right. I just always thought the Oquirrh Mountains were private property owned by Kennecott, therefore, no-go.

Glad to see that isn't the case for the entire range.

South of the Copper mine is open terrain. Access is from the west and south parts of the range. I've heard you can access from the east side, but you have to negotiate the private property. The different backcountry guide books have good info.

Today we went through the gate at ninety-nine 90 and then toured the ridgeline. Not much to report other than face shots while skiing with unsinkable—like the titanic—Lotus 138s in USA Bowl… the sickness will continue at dawn tomorrow.

Conditions were good today... at least for the first half of my first run. If anyone saw the green pants lying down under Gadzoom, that was me in pain not able to move my legs. Half way through some pow turns, my back decided to go out again. Instead of ripping lines, I ended up paying a visit to the doctor this morning.

    that sucks!

Dude, I've been there. Had my back go out on me while skiing at Solitude. Dropped a small cliff, landed flat and my lower back just seized up. Could barely walk for days. 3 weeks at the chiropractor. Not fun.

So to help you feel better, here are some pictures I shot today at Solitude. You can thank your back later for missing out on this:

9990 -> USA Bowl? You don't save that for the PCMR tourers?

^%$!%$! I'm stuck in training this week. On the positive side it's almost good enough to be missing all this snow.

    WORD.

I am really stoked that I am leaving for Salt Lake for work tomorrow! Working Wed/Thurs but have written off Friday as a "travel" (I mean Alta) day. Does Alta offer a discount if you buy your ticket with a passholder?

Ermine -> Meh; cheap pass through work (otherwise, BCC/LCC are my stomping grounds) so go with what you know, I guess. Today, took a quick trip up Mount Aire from the Lamb’s / I-80 side… put in a nice wide skin track for all the boarders on snowshoes and the U of U folk that followed. Nothing to report other than moderately deep creamy new snow, but played it safe anyway.

Too, I cannot believe Trackhead is sick… is that even possible? Recover quickly dude; because this FKNA thread has inspired me get out there much more often: half days, dawn patrol, work in the evenings etc.

PROVO -> those pics are awesome.
