Skied God's Lawnmower...A zipper crust the whole way down. Really didn't find any great snow but the skin up and the views were awesome! It looks like it might be a while for decent snow. Snow dance...

"Oh, no pics. To simulate the skiing today, walk out your door, grab a handful of snow, and throw it in your face. Repeat as necessary.
If you don't have snow outside your door, what the fuck are you living there for?"

Skied Kessler Peak and the East Couloir. Variable conditions all around with sun-crust and recrystallized powder every other turn. Was originally going to go down the Kessler headwall (north face) down Argenta. But the skin up showed nothing but crust. Chose to ski down in the sun where things were softer. Worked out half-right.
Awesome tour nonetheless. For trip description and a short video, go here:
skied coalpit "propa" today via the Y. won't waste time on a TR as Mclean has just covered it. creamy turns depending on what chute aspect you were skiing. creamy turns for a ways before the gully. waterfall rappel was...interesting. bushwack was, well a typical bushwack (with some postholing). fun nonetheles.
Vid of coalpit with criscam. I am the genius behind the camera.

I like the 5.7 climb at 1:30.
I luv seeing all these classic lines being slayed!
Luv the reports, too.

Johnny's only sin was dispair
Skied up here today, the couloir looked runneled and not that great. Jonah hadn't skied Sup yet after years of filming it, so we exited Sup at noon finding nice soft snow.
I'm ready for the high pressure to break down now.

Watch out for an active bear and a fresh elk kill in upper Porters Canyon. Way up somewhere before it gets steep, but if you stay on the main skintrack going up or down you should be good.
If you really want to find it, bring your dog and look for the den and some blood. Not that I saw it, by my ski partner did.
Anyone been out the past few days? How does it look?
How was the new snow? Sloppy?
Skied the east ramp of Kessler today. 4-5" of heavy new snow on top of an unfrozen base. Steeper slopes were sluffing and traveling respectable distances.
Watch out for shallow snow over rocks. Those areas are ripping right out and could send a person for a painful ride over rocks.
Skied from the Canyons to PC on wed. so couldn't say about any new snow. Did they even get any? Been raining here at 7500' in PC off an on for two days.
Conditions on wed where awfully shitty on all sorts of wind f#cked snow in the upper bowls. Good soft snow in sheltered shady areas.
Are you serial?
Wow, I've been trying to follow the weather but I don't know where to get all the Wasatch beta apart from NWS and this thread. Flying into SLC to pop my UT cherry on Saturday morning ... I should plan on bringing my bathing suit, lots of sunblock, and no hard shell, right?
Unfortunately I won't be bringing my touring gear, as the buddy in tow is a strictly inbounds kind of guy ... which is okay anyway since I know jack shit about your snowpack. Still, verrry stoked for a good trip coming up!

I would imagine trackhead is inspiring envy in many of us, those are some awesome pics
... yes; things are going to get more than a little interesting over the next 3-4 days.
surfing inbounds should be thick, smooth, fast and fun; if the roads stay open and you get up early enough to get on the hill.
was planning to do a quick 1 lap sunset tour up flagg late this afternoon, but it didn't fully clear enough till 'bout 4:30'ish and the beer tasted much better at that time than bustin' out a few k of vert. didn't observe any skier triggered slide on south, west or east aspects from Alta. also chatted with fellow UDOT man tonight and he said that for the most part today things were glued in place.
alta patrol and my fellow udot employees said this will all change starting tomorrow mid morn.
be safe folks. all of this water content and weight is sure to re-activate some deep layers that have been silently lurking for the last 2-3 weeks.
"... she'll never need a doctor; 'cause I check her out all day"
... yes; glad to hear you got away with only a torn wanker ligament
just driving up the canyon yesterday, it felt like below 7k we had instantly been transported to a late April/early May storm. everyone was talking about how the lower parts of both canyons did a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde routine from Wednesday to Thursday. Good thing you got Coalpit 4 when you did.

Just pulled the trigger on a flight out of BC tomorrow afternoon..skiing Monday-Friday, splitting days between LCC and Big..talk to me, SLC mags, how's this storm shaping up? Snow density expected to be around 15 percent? Road closures probably going to be a serious concern Monday? Regardless, putting this trip together on the fly and am psyched! Tell me things..
