North faces, and even some of the sunnier north a-route stuff was still riding quite well today.

Oh, yeah, despite the depressing statistics, today was so much fun! A few blown around inches and some light can do wonders. Some pleasant surprises for sure.

P nut finally got a pair of real skis and now I am feeling the pressure from the old man. Gotta step it up!

I think I spotted MT up there in the afternoon, is that you in the green with the tele skis?

Yeah, nice. Show' em what we do around here after three weeks of drought.

Today was a little scrappier than yesterday, eh?

Any idea what the rescue was all about today? I left Bridger a little after four and there were a number of SAR vehicles + sherrif's dept. A chopper was flying up Bridger Canyon as I drove home.

So who was out skiing the icy moonscape on south facing aspects today?
We heard you in our twilight caves, one hundred fathom deep below, for notes of joy can pierce the waves, that drown each sound of war and woe.

I did that for shits and giggles on Saturday. I found both rock hard coral and breakable crust with a dusting of pow on top.

I wasn't that stoked on it.

2 inches of glory..... whatever that means...

Monday was one of those bridger classics, no one anywhere and 2-3 inches of creamy goodness. These are the days that most forget (because they were not there) but are what makes me keep coming back for more.

Its amazing what snow starvation can do to man..... or women i guess. I ripped different lines all day and layed my signature all over the mountain (although my signature resembles a 4 year olds crayon drawing). I know this wouldnt have been possible if it snowed 6 inches or more. So to all of you that didnt go I take back all i said, it sucked and I will tell how bad it was today later.

Disclaimer: Most of this post is just me venting about shit.

Dudes, I'm so depressed on school right now... although I had successfully not allowed school to interfere with my skiing for the last three years of engineering, this year is raping my Bridger time. I skied ~30 times before this semester started and since then I've only been up 4 times... FUCK. Every time I look over at my 5ish pairs of skis I feel like I'm betraying their rights to skied.

Part of me tries to justify it by thinking things like "It's probably not even that good," or "It hasn't really snowed in like 3 weeks" but every time I get on this thread, I remember how sweet 1-3" Bridger days are. And how amazing finding a sluff pile, on said days, that you can always get some air and jump into can be.

On a different note, a local ripper Ben Miller (Frodo) wrote a pretty cool piece in the exponent about not traversing across Mundy's and encouraging people to get their shit together before hitting Slash-man's. Check it out if you're stuck on campus waiting for the next class like I am right now.

Praise Ullr. I read that and was so stoked. That guys was right on.

That bullshit triple traverse gaper shooting gallery better not be going on when we get some snow again.

Patrol should put a rope up there already for the same reason they put one in going north. Skier compaction is needed in the above areas. Not to mention that some of the idiots traversing there are going to be decapitated by someone less careful than I might be.

It's lift served now, I think the patrol would only be making it 10x easier on themselves with minimal signage and marking.

Yo, tone, I got the day off tomorrow. Let's go slay some shit. I'd like to traverse O/B and snag some goodies. You blatantly missed the prototype Bros at lobstahmeatwad's house (block down from mine) last night without asking for change, too. For shame.

Also: patrol is just looking for a consistent policy for all the ridge terrain. They don't string ropes over the meatgrinders on the ridge thus ... no stringing ropes on Slushman's. The enforcement of some etiquette is up to us, but I'm sure it'll get better with time. Just like how everyone knows where the traverses go on the ridge and High T, it'll come with time.

I can understand that, but unfortunately, the lift in Slushmans means lift served mentality which means people not scoping their lines, people traversing like lemmings because they don't know how to respect steep terrain.

I think its noble of them to initially try that idea as I hoped Slushmans wouldn't attract so many people that can't link 3 turns on a 40 degree pitch. But now I think it's obvious. Every year the same thing is going to happen with the new crop of college kids and such.
The same idiots are going to keep traversing across steep exposed slopes to make 4 turns on low angle and then traverse all the way back to the lift. You can look and see it day in day out.

They are just begging for collision problems on powder frenzy days.
I think a simple ropeline and explanation like they have on the other side over there would solve alot of problems and maybe prevent someone from getting killed.

If you feel the same, make a suggestion to patrol. I have and will again until they hate me.

    Slusher

What I have been told is that this year is an experiment year. What exactly that means i am not sure. Needless to say things will change, just because the solutions seem obvious they probably aren't. Personally i had way more fun over there without the lift.... not that I want it to go away. I guess my point is they plan on taking all our concerns and finding a solution that will work for them and us. Overall i would say they are on our side. I think the first mistake they made was introducing such a cheap beacon with passes giving nobjobs access to places were they do not belong, but thats just my opinion.

Ton maybe you wouldnt have such a problem if you would stop linking more than 3 turns together

ps. the traverse lines do lick donkey balls. Nothing like kneeing yourself in the face in flat light.

There was some fun to be had up there today. Nice to get a lousy three inches to keep us hanging by a thread through more warm sunny days ahead.

Hick finding a way out of the gnarl:

A fun line, but way sketchier than it looks. (Don't follow our tracks)

With a massive overnight 4" dump, oh wait those rock bands still look rocky. Powderfin, BB RidgeKid and I go for a ride.

    A bit of climbing.

    Not there yet.

We actually dig pits. Pfin volunteered.

    Hey! Are we good!

This chunk fell off when Pfin sawed the backside of the column. This piece must have weighed 80lbs. We moved over one couli.

No real skiing shots but the young guys were feeling spinny.

    Umm.

    Pfin tries.

    Oops, not you too.

And a little more hiking to get out. Hopefully winter will return soon.

    Thanks for sharin' guys!

Seems like the 4 inches brought everybody to their happy place!

Finally got some of what I've been waiting for. Bluebird, hero snow, and stability coming together. A rarity this season.

The only thing hard to find was someone not in a coma from the coldsmoke award festivities.

I settled for my buddy Bridger Bro who was only an 8 out of 10 on the hangover scale. I gotta give him some props. I poured some Powerade and orange juice down his gullet and stood him up over some nice lines and a photoslut he became:

Random ripper about to make alot of pow turns:

Untracked pow? This isn't the Bridgers. Hell this isn't Montana.

P-noodle's line from the day before.

Bridger Bro about to let loose:

    The moment of clarity:

    B. Bro does his best Eric Hjorleifson:

    The matchstick cameras are rolling!

    Gettin outa there:

    Round two:

    Carnage:

"This wasn't supposed to happen today"

So yeah, I pobly put too many pics up but it's been a weak month. Today was like being in another universe far far away from beat crusty moguls.
