Finally, me in some god awful light but fresh landing. You don't really need to see when it's soft...

Hell yeah! Gotta do it in the flat light so far this year. Nice work.

Sweet! Looks like you guys got first tracks there that day. Must have been awesome!

    While I'm at it...

Might as well throw up some more pics since I figured out how to do it, and since we are coming into some high pressure with no new snow for awhile.
Here is some Bluebird pow stoke from last season.

15 dollars to carpool is a great idea. Is that every friday? I would imagine it's the honor system at the counter...or has bridger gotten a valet booth?

Wow, that is a sad and mysterious tragedy. Maybe he had a heart attack or something? I didn't hear anything about that until your post, MT. Did you know him?

shit! I remembered seeing the patrollers gathered around the traverse there with a sled. I figured someone bombing back to the Bridger lift had finally creamed someone coming out of the gully there, but damn. "previous medical issues". didn't someone die at Big Sky recently from some pre-existing medical condition too??

and no, sorry benDover, but the carpool lift ticket deal was just for Bridger's 54th Birthday Although, they are doing it next Friday too uder the guise of the Bobcat Ski Day

anyway, here's a little stoke to try and shake off Friday's unfortunate accident (and this damn High Pressure system that won't go away!!)

Hikers headed up the Saddle Peak ridge. (How has no one died there yet, btw?)

I gotta say, I've seen some awesome skiers up there recently and some amazing tracks in the sickest of lines I could ever imagine up there. Whoever put those nice tracks down the spine of "lost shot knob" is truly getting the goods. Clearly, other people got in there the wrong way and had a very bad time.

Amazing how good coverage and supportability the rock spine areas got this early season. So cool to see so many great lines go down.

Sad to see those spots are going to melt out now instead of grow fatter. I guess that is the nature of opportunity here for that stuff. If your lucky, it's in for a few days, then vaporized by the sun and wind.

(Please let the next weather cycle bring more 3 to 5 inch plasterings!)

    C'mon

You guys are gettin a little gloomy about the high pressure. Shit it has been a cold grey season so far take advantage of the good vis, this is a typicall little Jan. thaw, but it reallly has not even melted much. North facing stuff is chalkalisious for sure and the south facing is a little firm at the end of the day but things are good. We won't be losing too much snow on the spines...
Just hold in there, starting Wed. night looks like we start moving back into some weather and colder temps.

MP going for the tail tap...

    hell yeah Marc,
got a couple runs in on saddle yesterday and it was really fun wind buffed smoothness. i love high speed bombing in the 'bc'.

a little poking around and we found our way into that north facing chute with the trees in the middle that splits the cliffs into no-name bowl. pretty fun chute.

???? I don't know about that, I've been skiing every day and it's been great.

But yeah, after a week I'll be over it. Bring on Gloomy the Grey Bird. Everyone here must remember what a month of high pressure does to the mountain, right? Jan/Feb '05. March '07. Anyone?

Man I still can't get over how well the mountain has held snow so far this year, if we get back into the weather path, we could be on course for a better season than last year. Bring it on. Here's to a hundred inch base by the first week of Feb!

Until then I'll be enjoying nature's groomer myself.

Yes. It looks like some people got in there by accident and were looking for a way out, but someone put in some very deliberate tracks down the skiers left spine.

That has got to be one of the best lines on the mountain. There is a picture of Aaron Loft skiing it in Carve a few months ago. Maybe it was that dude.
I wondered what that was called. It did ski very well.

Those turns are sick man. Way to put that one up there. No one will be crossing those tracks! Thanks for showing me where to put 'em when it's in again.

I gotta give you guys major props for the continuous upbeatedness to go along with killing it everyday.

I will be coming up in a week or two house hiunting and to check out the terrain more. Grew up skiing there on spring break(I'm one of those darn nort dakotans). Be cool to hook up and get a good idea of the whole bzn,BS,MB and BB scene.

Ditching vail to make Bozangles the new winter home!!
